How about adding an RSS Bot similar to the one that VB has.
What do you mean?

Sorry I didn't give a description.
The RSS Bot will catch feeds from the URLs the admin has given to it and post them in topics in the board the admin has specified.

Yes, what I wanted is what that mod could do.
Even if it is a mod would there still be a chance of them adding it as a main feature in the final product?

I don't know. Maybe it will be included in SMF 2.0 when it comes out, maybe it will not.
You can still use the mod until then. Note that the mod might need to get rewritten in order to work with SMF 2.0.
Did you try the mod? Does it work as expected?
None of the feeds I've tried worked and I've tried several feeds.
Could you not find the feeds you need, or did the available feeds not work at all?
What kind of feed do you need?
The available ones didn't work.
http://rss.gamespot.com/misc/rss/gamespot_updates_all_games.xml - This was one of the feeds I tried. I also tried a feed for the news here at SMF but it wouldn't work either.
Is the fsockopen PHP function enabled and working? Ask your host if you're not sure.
I've mailed them and asked them and they told me it was.
Have you selected "Feed Enabled" for each feed?
Do you get an error message or something?
An Error Has Occurred!
Unable to download the feed.
Do you have any errors in Admin > Forum Error Log?
Have you checked the topic for the mod:

Is PHP running in safe mode? Is allow_url_fopen set? Find out by uploading phpinfo.php and checking the values for safe_mode and allow_url_fopen.
What is a phpinfo() file? (http://docs.simplemachines.org/index.php?topic=479)
