Hello,
In most topics, the subject field isn't needed and only takes place. Vbulletin has a very good way to overcome this. Basically, the subject field can be empty and it only appears in the topic page if it has something.
Could the SMF team do something similar to the 2.0 version?
Thanks

Saying up won't help.
It's only to get some feedback from the dev team.

I think you are confusing the subject field with the description field. SMF doesn't have a description field so this request is moot.
I thought they were referring to the subject of each individual message.
Where its the same as the topics (except for the re: part), don't write it?
maybe they could clarify a bit more.

I thought the same as you.
It probably wouldn't be difficult to automatically to add a line of code to your theme which would hide the subject if it is the same as the original subject (+"RE:" :P).
Maybe start a post in Graphics and Templates (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?board=34.0)
To be honest, I think I will hide completely the subject on all messages when I make the new template. The topics' subject don't change on my forum and it's enough to have it displayed on the top.
