Post by: bonavie on August 02, 2007, 11:50:24 PM
I'll be appreciated if anybody can tell me how to solve this issue:

- Posted in Chinese language and displayed Chinese character
correctly;

- Chinese language is selected from the Language Selection Bar BUT the Chinese character in the MENU and LEFT NAVIGATION BAR are not  displayed correctly.

Please see following link:

are you talking about traditional or simplified? trad is displaying correctly, you just have to select big5 in your browser encoding.

Thanks for your reply.

Yes, you're right, both the Simplified and Traditional Chinese Character are displayed correctly when I selected the related language in my browser encoding.

Can you tell me how to make the forum display multi-languages automatically like this:

(Arabic)
Moderator: Croco
Català (Catalan)
中文 (Chinese)
Hrvatski (Croatian)
ovdje možete na hrvatskom zamoliti za pomoć ili savjet o SMF-u, dobro došli

and,  this:

We don't have to change browser encoding to have the Chinese Character (Traditional & Simplified) displayed, instead, we can select it from the Language Selection Bar.

Any suggestion?

Thank you.

in short, you can't. you can't possibly change everyone's browser settings.
you can use utf-8 though to display multi-language forums, like here.

Hi, I've got an English language forum but since we are based in China, sometimes people use Chinese characters in their comments.  I've got the language set to English-Utf8 but Chinese characters still come up with a '?' for every character entered.  How do I set it up so that both English and Chinese characters show up?

Many thanks in advance for you help,

There is no the so called 'correct Chinese Character.' However, the one can  say a Character is correct based on the style it is written.

Chinese Characters are picture-wise and could be written in a commonly recognized form, especially often with minor variation.

To facilitate us to write a Character in the history, Central governments had always engaved them on stone for the public to follow.

For the time being, Taiwan's correct Chinese Characters are Kai style(Traditional) while PROC's sung style.

But sorry, both styles have minor difference within themselves.
