Hi,
I was hoping that upgrading to SMF 1.1.3 would solve the issue with newsletter timeouts, but alas, it still happens. I have a forum with about 190 members and when I try to send a mass email to them via the 'newsletter' function, it just hangs and never sends the email. 190 members isn't that big, so I'm baffled why this times out.
Is there some patch or setting I can apply to fix this? I was under the impression this was going to be fixed in SMF 1.1.3.
Thanks,
Ian
yeah it happens, but sending newsletters/global pm depends n server also. but n 2.0, there might be bit change in system ;)

Hi,
Thanks for the input. Here's crossing my fingers that 2.0 provides a better fix for this...
Best,
Ian
2.0 employs a mail queue which staggers email sending. This is to bypass these server problems.
Theres a lot of variables on the server side which could/would stop these mails from being able to send, unfortunately. This isn't directly a problem with SMF. You might contact your host and ask what limits they have on email sending.
I have 370 members on a dedicated server and i can send mails fine.
hmm.. I have a smf forum with 1500 members.. mass email works fine but its on dedicated box..
What if number of member is around 20000 ?
can smf handle that ie. 1.1.4 ?
SMF can certainly handle that. We have over 100 thousand members here and there are a few other sites with over 20 thousand members.
I know it can handle.. but it is now using version 2.0 beta which has new way to handle newsletter but 1.1.4 first download all to a page then send out newsletter..
won't that cause error ?
