I have a user that originally chose to allow other members to email her through the forum, and then she realized that the users who was sending her the email was able to view her email address in the "To:" bar.... so now she would like to disable that feature and I cannot find where she can do that. I've looked all over in every section imaginable.
can anyone point me in the right direction?
thanks
i'd have to take a much more in depth look later (on my way out for work) but this mod: http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=371, will replace the system with an email system that wont give out the email addresses
thank you!
when you have the time to look....
I installed the mod, but I'm having a little bit of trouble getting it to work with my theme.
I'm pretty sure that I have to go and manually add the script into the theme template.
I am having a problem with this step:
2. Open up the specified file and look for a set of <operation>...</operation> tags. This indicates a single modification step within the specified file.
I cannot find the <operation> tags in my themedir/Display.template.php
Those would be in the modification file, not the SMF source file.
sorry, i've been busy and just now getting back to this.
can you give me a little bit of instruction about where to find and modify that file?
Wont the Hide email address from public? option serve the same function to no allow people to e-mail her through the forum?
Yes and no. Try it out ;)
you don't look for operation... you look for the code between <!CDATA[[ and ]]>.
ok thanks. I'll try that in the morning.
the problem is when the person clicks to send the other person a message, it pops open their email program and the person's email address is plainly visible there.
I have emailing disabled right now, but I'd like the users to be able to email each other through the forum if they'd like.
in this file
default/languages/Modifications.english.php...
am I supposed to add the code
<operation>
<search position="after"><![CDATA[
?>]]></search>
<add><![CDATA[
and then
]]></add>
</operation>
</file>
and then do the same for all of the other files listed in the useremail.xml document?
sorry if this is a stupid question, I just want to be sure that I'm doing this right.
i'm trying to follow the directions described here
http://docs.simplemachines.org/index.php?topic=402#post_xmlformat
but I'm getting confused because the code that it's telling me to look for is not there.
So I am wondering if I am even looking in the right place to begin with, but I haven't been able to find the same file names anywhere else.
ignore everything outside <!CDATA[[ and ]], it is xml instructions not pertinent to the mod.
that's the thing. there is no CDATA code.
I am going into the admin section of my forum, and then to "Themes and Layout" and then "Modify Themes"
then I go to the Display.template.php file and try to follow the instructions
and the code does not look the same.
if I try to make the changes as explained, i get an error and breaks the forum.
well, I finally found this link at the bottom of that page
http://modparser.dev.dansoftaustralia.net/
and it was a huge help. I got the mod working now.
