i installed smf+tinyportal
total size of the files is lower than 15 MB
after that i disable every user to upload anything (avatar, attach, etc)
and i never install any packages
a month later, the size is bigger than 60 MB
why ?
is that possible to keep the size static ?
please help me, my space quota is only 100 MB
Lainaais that possible to keep the size static ?
not if your database size counts towards your limit.
you need to find out where these files are that are taking up the space first.
i installed smf again in my pc, and compare with old smf
i checked folder Themes, Sources, etc
all new smf folders size is lower than the old
i checked files in the folders wich increase
the files in new smf and files in old smf have same size.
???
what about the size of your database?
3.5 MB

Database size is different than the web space. So its not related with files.

Increase of database size never increases file sizes.
@leoliet, if you cant find the files that take place in your FTP, (as you say files are the same size) ask your host about it.
But first I recommend you to check your files one by one.
Probably your error log is causing such growth.
If there is a file named error_log in your main forum directory, delete it and your web space will relax. :)
Then go into your admin panel -> Error Logs, and tell us the errors there. Because if you dont solve those errors, they will cause the growth again.
I have seen hosts who count databases against your quota. Thats why i asked.
Most dont.
But what kind of a forum groove up this fast, if his host counts the db size in web space. :) (His forum is quite new)
in this case, true, but i was just pointing out that i've seen that before so it can't always just be discounted :P
If this is a cpanel host you can click the disk space usage icon to get a rundown of your largest resource usage folders
i also disable error logging and Create Backup versions of replaced files with a tilda (~)
i also disable TinyPortal Download manager

i think error log is in database, not in files

in the first week after installation, the size is 14.07 MB (smf+TP), i checked daily, and never check again
