SMF Version: 1.1.4
To be honest I think the age restriction in the registration could be better! Instead of having a check box and saying "[check] I am at least _ years old.". (anyone can check a box) instead asking for the date of birth - [month/day/year] - then under that in small text saying you must be at least _ years old. If someone is willing to add up the years just to join then they deserve to get in unless they're so young and it's a porn website.
How?
brianjw :)
i agree.
that would be good, cause then my age and starsign onformation would be filled out on registration
You may be able to apply this code to add the birth date code to the template:

And then with a few additional changes you could make it so that COPPA stuff comes into play when the age of the member is too young.
i love the way you always refer to some of your own previous coding lol
its awesome
i bet you have an excell/word doc with the link and what the code does lol
Nope. :P
I guess I just have a pretty good memory of all the little coding tips I have posted in the past, and when I need to find something I just use the search function with "akabugeyes" typed in for the "by user" field. ;)
While requesting a birthday might make some people more honest, it wouldn't stop those who were purposely lying, and then we'd have to implement a couple more checks - one to prevent them from selecting a birthday that would make them too young and one to force them to specify the year. SMF currently allows you to omit the year if you don't want people knowing how old you really are but still want them to know when it's your birthday.
well they have 0000 in the date for the year, they have to put it in themselves...
anyone can use a calculator
there is NO way around it unless you request a birth certificate and social security number ;)
lol
and i have neither :P
(ma has the first though)
