Is it just me, or is SMF seeming to go 'Juvenile'??
I dunno.. seeing that stuff on the front page (about 'banning' and what not) and also the whole 'birthday greeting' bit.. I really dont know.. just didnt seem the stuff of a 'mature' board or software site to me. Its almost like it's "Lord of the Flies" in here!
i would just think that either topic was not 'front page material' or worthy of a dedicated 'competition', but thats just me.
The birthday competition was really a bit of fun to encourage the community to contribute a bit to SMF 2.0. It was put in the news forum as we figured it would be seen most there
As for the ban thread, we've banned a few spammers and unfortunately sometimes one of our regular members ends up banned (for example if we end up having to ban an IP range) and in light of this we drafted a ban topic so people knew the best way of contacting us :)
I don't think that has anything of bad. As H said, there are reasons for those topics to be there, and I don't think they 'lower' the image of SMF, or the respect it deserves.
A company can be serious with they products while having a little of fun ;)
yeah. of course, you are right :) Its just that I've seen some REALLY stupid forums lately, and that was a key point in common with them,LOL
How is an announcement to inform the community on ban practices and events anyway 'Juvenile' ...
We like to involve our community, something else a lot of other forums don't do :)
Thanks for the feedback though :)
