Otsikko: Max password length in SMF?
Kirjoitti: Yhamuna - lokakuu 14, 2007, 10:59:15 IP
Hello,

Just curious, what is the max password length in SMF? I've looked through some of the files, and did a search on the website here and didn't find a real answer.

I'm kinda obsessed with having the most secure password possible. LOL ;D

I am going to go with the max entry which, as I understand it, is 256 characters. Err... Good idea but, well, don't do it. :)

Yeah, that is going overboard. Thanks for answering my question, I appreciate it. :)

I'm not 100% certain but I believe that is as much as you can enter into the field. I'm an ass but not that much of an ass to give someone 256 8 bit characters to enter as a password. Assuming, if you will, that you can insert an 8 bit character (symbols or what not) and run with it? How about - you can put any password in that you can remember?

At 256 characters, you can do a passphrase. Those are often easier to remember and more secure (due to the length).

Though I suppose someone could figure that out eventually. Anyhow, this one appears solved and I'll mark it so.
