In the who's online list we see names of online the members
It would be very nice to have a option to show profile photos instead of names, if enabled in the admin section.
eg mybloglog
and if u have 150 users online?.... a lot of loading only to see an avatar.... i dont know ...
If you have more than 25 users online then it should have option like click more to see all
how to do this.
What if someone didn't set an avatar?
use the default avatar mod to show no avatar.
This isn't really something that would be good as a default feature. Mainly due to the numerous ways in which it could have a negative effect on page load times (more images, large images that take longer to load, a remotely hosted avatar on a server that is taking a long time to respond, etc)
you can give option to show 10 photos by default and on clicking more to see more users online.
Doesn't matter. You have those possibilities no matter how many you allow by default. It's not something that would be good as a default feature.
ok atleast make a mod.
Because avatars are not cached, such a mod will chew through bandwidth like crazy. Also, if you don't have a custom avatar directory specified, each avatar shown will cause a php script to execute, eating up a lot of CPU.
Well this is common practice on most social networking sites and if our servers can take the banwidth we would atleast like to see this as an option. I plan to implement this myself on a custom page - http://www.ibookdb.net/users - but it would be nice if it was just a part of SMF.
