A great mod :) Awesome.An error I have discovered:

http://www.mywebsite.com/forums/index.php?action=smileys;sa=managegroups
2: Invalid argument supplied for foreach()
File: /var/www/html/forums/Themes/default/ManageSmileys.template.php (managegroups sub template - eval?)
Line: 751

This error repeats itself everytime I try accessing "Manage Groups" under "Smileys and Message Icons" of the forum.

So any way of solving this? :)

 :-\  That's one I have not seen before.  Does it prevent you from using the Mod in any way?  Obviously I couldn't have tested this with 100% of the Mods out there... perhaps there is a conflict?  What mods are you currently using?

One thing I noticed was that when an error was listed in ManageSmileys.template.php it never was in the template file, usually it was in the Subs-Post file.

I will look into it, but any more info you can provide would be helpful!

I don't think it prevent me from using the mod in any way.I'm able to access the admin page for manage groups with no problems.And this is actually my first mod in modifying my ManageSmileys portion.Other mods are like who voted what mod,quite some xhtml compliant mods which have nothing to do with this mod and I don't think it will affect this mod :)

The error repeats itself whenever I access this url:
http://www.mywebsite.com/forums/index.php?action=smileys;sa=managegroups

so I take it as it's this url which is giving me problems ... and that's managegroups and smiley words in the url so the problems are more or less got to do with that portion.

Run the uninstall again.. doing the SQL stuff last.  Then through FTP go to Packages directory and delete the smileyPOPs package.

Start all over with the install after that.

function template_managegroups()
{
        global $context, $settings, $options, $scripturl, $txt, $modSettings;

                $row_class = ($row_class == "windowbg2") ? "windowbg" : "windowbg2";
        }

Line 751: foreach ($context['smiley_groups'] as $smiley_group)

So any solutions?... :)

Have you made any smiley groups yet?  And if so how many?  Also, have you placed smileys in all the groups you have made?

It looks like it is telling me that the foreach is in error state because there is nothing to each-for...  LOL  I will look into it more when I get home tonight.

I haven't even started to create any smiley groups as yet.The first thing after I install is to run a test to check that the extra function has been added;then I visit the forum log to check for any errors ... :)

Okay, it appears that the error here is looking for groups to manage except there aren't any.  Go to the manage groups tab and make one group at least.  then add all the smileys from your [more] pop up to that group. once done go to the error log and empty it completely.  then go make a post.  You should see the post form (visible) smileys and the [group] pop up.  Now go back to the edit smileys section of the admin panel, manage smileys panel, and then back to your error log.  It should be clear still.  If not, let me know.

There are some themes that are not set up to use all of the default files that this Mod uses.  It is relatively simple though. in the package manager view the files of the smiley pops mod. there are only 5 files this Mod makes changes too.  write those file names down.  Then through FTP go to your forum files, go to the theme folder for the theme you are using.  check the list you made against the files in that folder.  if any match you will need to manually edit those files.

For example, if you find the file managesmileys.template.php in your current theme's folder you will need to manually do the changes from the install.xml.  If you don't find the files you don't need to edit them. (if they aren't in your themes folder then they use the default ones, which this mod already edited.

post me a link to your forum.  If you can make a test account that would help too.  I have a few minutes that I can help out right now, otherwise it will have to wait about 24 hours.

If I get the account info for your forum I will talk to you over there about what to do, so I can see it.

Every file should pass, and install without problems.  The only cause for this that I can see is that you have something that has already altered those files or for some reason the files don't exist where your forum is looking.

Do you have a link to your forum?  Have you renamed/removed any default files or folders?

I haven't renamed or removed any files, but I do have several other mods installed. I guess I'll just have to add it manually. the forum is realitycafe.us

i have a strange problem. lets see if i can describe it.

For now i only have two smiley sets.

Default and Classic.

So lets say in the drop down box i select Classic. Then i put check marks on the first three smilies. Then at the bottom I select to Move them to my only Group wich i labeled More. The weird part happens after this. Any changes I made to the first three smileys in the Classic set also takes affect in the Default set. Know what I mean?

Also, cant get the pop up on my custom theme. mustve missed something.

thanks.
Title: Re: Smiley Pops
Post by: BiGBLiZZ on November 25, 2007, 09:36:36 AM
Well, anything you do to a smiley in one set takes place in the other set.  That is an SMF standard.  However, you must realize that this mod takes advantage of the hidden feature.  When you move a smiley to a group made by this mod, essentially you are making it hidden.  Inside the hidden group of SMF is where the groups are made and stored, the smileys are moved to the hidden part, sorted to the group and then "unhidden" when they are in that group.  So basically your first three smileys are hidden. And as with default smiley handling, if you hide one smiley from a set, and it is in the other set, it hides both.

As for your custom theme, this mod only edits 5 files, view files in package manager and see which file is used that your custom theme has. This is the one you will need to make the manual changes to.

Yikes!  BiGBLiZZ, this is the message I found from the guy who helps me with the techi stuff on my forum...

QuoteAs for the mod , The moment i tried to install it it caused problems , It added all the code to the files , When it shouldnt have , Messed up the database , Caused plenty of errors throughout the forum , I have managed to fix them and i would highly recommend not installing this mod!

I *really* need your mod. What do you think?  I can tell you what the error log says if you need that info.
Title: Re: Smiley Pops
Post by: BiGBLiZZ on November 28, 2007, 03:49:29 PM
What do I think?  Well.. I think something is wrong (perhaps with the user?)  I don't know what though.

Quote
It added all the code to the files , When it shouldnt have ,

It will only add the code when "apply mod" is pressed.  Otherwise it just sits idly, waiting.

Quote
Messed up the database

Specifics would help, the only thing this does is add an ID to the existing smiley table, and adds a new table smiley_groups.  Nothing else is touched, and to my knowledge there is only one other Mod on SMF that alters the smiley table.  Messing up a database is not something a script can do.  It sounds like a permissions thing.

Quote
Caused plenty of errors throughout the forum

When first installed, there will be errors in the log until you make a group and put smileys in it.  Unless the first thing you do is create at least one group and put at least one smiley in it before any member goes to the PM box or posts a reply.  Otherwise you will get an undefined index error.  Once you have your groups those will clear.

Quote
The moment i tried to install it it caused problems

To date I have personally helped 4 different forums with problems 'caused' by my mod.  Each one of them has turned out to be a problem with the forum itself or another mod that actually had problems, not my mod.  I am not saying it can't happen, but I haven't seen it yet. And if any of those 4 still watch this thread I am sure they will personally attest to this fact.

My guess is there is permission gaps and some other mod installed is wreaking havoc behind the scenes, which changing the base file (probably Subs.php) has brought into the light.

LOL That's usually the problem I have. A "user error". LOL

Listen, if this was in any way perceived as major assault on your hard work, I apologize. I want to use this mod! I am sure we can make it work.

I was surprised at the difficulty, all things seemed to be going smoothly for your mod. But honestly, all things are now in the hands of some complete amateurs once it was released. The guys who helps me is very good, but not everything is in his  skill set.

Please be patient with me, including how I phrase things. I in no way was implying this is a faulty mod, just quoting his first frustrated response.

My bet is it all lays in that critical piece of information I had not seen before,

No, I didn't take anything you said like that.  I hope I didn't come off too abrasive.

I can only tell you what I have experienced.  Without seeing the errors, or the problems in some way I don't really have much to go on to help you with.

If everything is working on your forum the way it should be, and you want to install this mod.  I would suggest you do the following:

1) Put the forum in maintenance mode.
2) sign in as Admin of the forum and go to admin panel, forum error log, clear all.
3) Go to every page on the admin panel, all tabs, etc. then go to PM, and send one to yourself. Go make a test post somewhere inthe forum.  Basically go look at everything you forum has, do everything you can do on the forum.
4) Go back and look at the error log.  make a note of any that stand out as "problematic" and again, clear the log.
5) Back up the forum and the Database, completely.
6) install the Smiley Pops Mod on your forum.
7) create a few categories and move smileys around.
8) Complete step 3 again.
9) Complete Step 4 again.
10) compare differences from step 4 and step 9 and then let me know what is happening and those differences.

:)

In my testings I've installed this mod on a complete fresh and mostly empty test install.  No mods and a fresh install of 1.1.4

Installed mod, created two test groups.  Then in the default icons, tried to move 'evil' icon to the first group and got this error:

To just name a few.  Are you sure this mod doesn't rely on some other mod to work?  Did it install and run correctly on your site when you were designing it?  Did you maybe have some other mods installed that allowed it to function correctly?

This mod relies on SQL to work, and hidden smileys (not icons).  You MUST have selected "enable customized smileys" in Admin>SMileys and Message Icons >Settings.

Also Rumbar, I thank you for your testing, but I never once claimed this worked on local machine tests.  There are differences between running an install of SMF from the harddrive of your computer and on a server, however slight, and I can't take responsibilities for those type of installs.  I know the value as I do it myself for php and java testing, but nothing beats a live test.

To that, I have tested this mod on a fresh install 1.1.3, fresh install of 1.1.4 an install that was 2 years old that had been upgraded from 1.0.5 to .0.7 to RC1, to RC2.. all the way to 1.1.4 and had over 50 mods installed, on forums with 10 to 30 mods installed and on forums still running RC1 or RC2.  To my personal hands on knowledge of the over 30 installs of this mod I have done, nothing has gone wrong.

The errors I have seen come from settings being wrong, permissions being wrong or an outdated SQL database (which is SMF doing, not the Mod).

There are only 5 files this mod deal with, MOST of which are ALWAYS handled by the default theme.  However, if your having problems this is the first thing I would check.  See if your theme uses it's own files instead of the default one.

OK, I test locally to save time.  But I'll also repeat it on a live system.  1.1.4, fresh no other mods or installs.

The only error, other than install errors was this one when I tried to install a group and not specific a group order.
You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'ORDER BY groupOrder ASC' at line 4
File: /home/rumbaar/public_html/XXXX/Sources/ManageSmileys.php
Line: 1236

This is the first mod I've found that didn't function that same on my localhost test server and 'live' server.  Could be the versions of php (5) and apache (2) I'm running.

I was using the default theme and had enable custom smileys (or I wouldn't have been able to edit them).

Why wouldn't you give it an order number?  SQL doesn't work in repetitives, and using the hidden feature for this mod, the smileys are either hidden or they are not.  I have taken advantage of this hidden feature and the structure of SQL to make use of the hidden entries.

You can't have articles (in this instance pop up windows) occupy the same space in an SQL table.  So you must give them an order, the only thing I have done here is given you the chance to organize the groups yourself.  I could have simply given the pop ups a sequential order based on the order you put them in, but then you would have to start all over if you wanted group 5 in front of group 2, for example.  Now all you have to do is change the order number.  But because of this, you have to give them an order number to start with.

Perhaps I didn't cover that enough in the readme?

I tryed to installe this mod and added this in the ManageSmileys.danish-utf8.php:

//Masque's Smiley Pops Mod
$txt['smiley_groups'] = 'Manage Groups';
$txt['smiley_groups_explain'] = 'Create, Modify and Delete Smiley Groups';
$txt['smiley_group_add'] = 'Add Group';

BUT when i try to add a NEW group i get this error;

Hi..

I installed this mod without any errors.
Then I added a few columns for different smilies and went to test it.

The first thing I noticed, was this in the post screen:

\n'); smileyPopupWindow.document.close(); } // ]]>

It was next to the bbcode boxes, and at the top of the postbox.
Then I clicked on the new columns, and they didnt work.

Upon deleting the mod, I recieved these errors:

1.     Execute Modification     ./Sources/ManageSmileys.php     Test failed
2.    Execute Modification    ./Sources/Subs-Post.php    Test failed
3.    Execute Modification    ./Themes/default/ManageSmileys.template.php    Test failed
4.    Execute Modification    ./Themes/default/Post.template.php    Test failed
5.    Execute Modification    ./Themes/default/languages/ManageSmileys.english.php    Test successful
6.    Execute Code    add_settings.php

After finally deleting the Mod(manually), all of is options were still there.

Sorry I dont have any screen shots of these, I reverted to installing a previous backup.
But hopefully you may know what happened (conflict with another mod(s) etc..   and be able to fix the prob.

Its a good Mod buddy :)    Look forward to seeing your conflict free update.

Cheers mate...   And keep up the good work.

This syntax error stems from an SQL problem, I can't tell what it is exactly and have my SQL guy looking into it.  The best we can tell right now is that it is a variance somewhere in SMF that relies on php4 coding and actually using php5.

I saw this once before, and it was from a double install.  Meaning either the installer clicked the install mod button twice, or refreshed the install page, or something.

In the case when I had this happen the install button was clicked twice.

Hi buddy  :)

Just did a fresh install, on a clean site.  No mods etc.
Still got this error when making a post:

\n'); smileyPopupWindow.document.close(); } // ]]>

I know nothing about codes etc so have no idea what this is.
But when I uninstalled it, the error was gone.  :)

I also clicked the install once ;)      Just to make sure.. lol
Sorry I cant help you locate the source of this error..
But with your level of knowledge, Im sure you'll knock it out in no time :)

Good luck mate..  I'll check back regularly, cause I want this damn Mod!!!   LOL

Greetings.
This may happen if your hoster inserting code (like ads) before closing tag </body>
as you can see in Post.template.php:
smileyPopupWindow.document.write(\'</td></tr>\n\t\t\t<tr><td align="center" class="windowbg"><a href="javascript:window.close();\\">', $txt['more_smileys_close_window'], '</a></td></tr>\n\t\t</table>\n\t</body>\n</html>\');
so ads gonna be inserted in java script which making page a bit messed. try contact your hoster to disable ads

Sorry for my English :]

-- Edited:
i had same problem with clean smf 1.1.4. solved by removing </body> from code, which i quoted before.

Here is my error

8: Undefined index: 14

Line: 1257

and here is the line of code

                                        'data' => $smiley_group_data[$row['groupNumber']]

I have 12 groups, all of which have smileys in them.  The smileys are working fine but the errors are a pain in the rear.

I am also using the following mods on the forum:

1. Attachments Positioning 1.0
2. Profile User Action 1.1
3. Custom Board Sort 1.0.1
4. AutoSig 1.2
5. Fix Message Empty Error For Embed Video Mods 1.0
6. Users Online Today Mod 1.4.0
7. Admin Notepad 1.0
8. Add Domaintools to TrackIP 1.0
9. Member Color Link 2.0.5
10. Enhanced Quick Reply Box 2.0.2
11. User Control Panel By Alan S 1.3
12. Integrated Chat 2.7
13. Smiley Pops 1.1.0
14. E-Arcade 2.4.2
15. TinyPortal 0.983
16. Admin Lock Thread 1.2
17. PhpInfo 1.1
18. Global Headers Footers 1.3
19. User Email System 1.2
20. Admins Can Post As Alternative User 1.0
21. Auto Embed Video Clips 1.9

All other mods are working fine at this time.

Is there a fix for this error?
Title: Re: Smiley Pops
Post by: BiGBLiZZ on January 06, 2008, 09:49:43 PM
Is this a recurring error? Meaning does it come back if you empty the error log?

90% of the time this error happens as members make posts or send PMs after you create the category and before you add smileys to it.  Which happens a lot on a live board.

If you clear the error log, and do routine maintenance on the forum and it still appears, let me know.

I'm using a custom theme (7dana) and after I installed the mod as well as made the theme edits according to this (http://www.smfhelper.info/forum/package.php5).

In my error log, I get these errors:

File: /home/pashauct/public_html/forum/Themes/7dana/ManageSmileys.template.php (eval?)

But the mod works perfectly fine, just that these errors pop-up in the log o_O

Hello,

I use the classic template.
In <file name="$themedir/Post.template.php">
i can`t find:
<a href="javascript:void(0);" onclick="replaceText(\' ', $smiley['code'], '\', document.forms.', $context['post_form'], '.', $context['post_box_name'], '); return false;"><img src="', $settings['smileys_url'], '/', $smiley['filename'], '" align="bottom" alt="', $smiley['description'], '" title="', $smiley['description'], '" /></a>';
]]></search>

i also can`t find:

// Finally the most important bit - the actual text box to write in!

and

something.style.backgroundImage = "url(" + smf_images_url + (mode ? "/bbc/bbc_hoverbg.gif)" : "/bbc/bbc_bg.gif)");

Do you have any solution.

Thanks Stef.

Anybody, please????

Hi all,

i think i like this mod and i want to install it.
This is my 1st mod installation so i went through the Package Installer method.
After the test it says for all files test succesful.
So i press install now button and i end up with a blank screen and a huge url to the browser which finishes like this : ......package=SmileyPops_1.1.0.tar.gz

Can you tell me what i am doing wrong?
I also tried this with the default theme and the result is the same.

I only have one issue that i might dont do right.
Where it says : Adminmenu->Packages->Download->Add server ,i have it blank.Should i add a server? my server? or is this irrelevant.
Apart from this -which i dont know what it is- i dont think i am doing something wrong but i keep getting a blank screen and the mod wont install.

Thank you for your time reading this .
I will wait for your suggestion before i try the manual installation.

Hello all.  I come bearing bad news.. due to many many prior commitments and huge projects upcoming (I started my own business) I have to bow out of support and upgrading for this Mod.

However, I am sure, unless SMF makes this a permanent feature, I will need to make small adjustments as the version numbers grow.  If there is anything significant I will make a new patch, and upload that.

If anyone wants to take over this mod as support and upgrading, please use the contact info in the readme file with the mod.

Thank you all for the support and I wish you all well.

For those who want it, here is the German (ISO) translation for the mod.

$txt['smiley_groups'] = 'Verwalte Gruppen';
$txt['smiley_groups_explain'] = 'Erstellen, &Auml;ndern und L&ouml;schen von Smiley Gruppen';

As it turns out I can't leave this thing alone.  I am working on a new version that will start with SMF 1.1.5 (although it should still be back compatible for all 1.1 versions), this will include SMF shoutbox and quick reply additions as well as a few other things like random smilies etc. It is slow going so please have patience.  As for the code, there isn't a specific code to use just for the quick reply, but you can play around with the install file and see what is put in the post form and PM box and try things that way, or wait for my next upgrade ;)

This error isn't Mod specific and is usually due to upgrades through the package manager.  For example if you installed SMF 1.1 and did an upgrade to 1.1.1 then to 1.1.4 and again to 1.1.5 you will see this error when installing most Mods that had SQL changes made.  There is a structural difference in the Database that SMF made some changes too.  You can either download Upgrade package and JUST upload the sql files and run the upgrade with those only, OR install a fresh forum (1.1.5) and move your Database over to the new one.

The upgrade files are easier and will usually work :D

Okay... The latter is not an option.

The former... I'm downloading the "large" upgrade package from the SMF download page... Once I've uploaded the SQL files, how to I run the upgrade with those only? Just by putting "http://www.yourwebaddresshere.com/SMF/upgrade.php"?

Yeah, I just uninstalled and haven't tried it since. Which is a bummer because there are a lot of smilies on our site...

Being able to organize them in a user-friendly fashion would be a huge benefit to SMF... That and being able to have multiple signatures on one account to pick and choose from per post.

News is my update is going very slow.  Real life is taking up about 85% of my allotted programming time.  I AM still working on this and will have updates posted ASAP.

and I'd love to be able to add in an updated version of this!

Do you know whenabouts you might be close to done? ;D

I just did the manual update to 1.1.6, and lost your popular mod on my forum.  I try to reinstall via the package manager, (as it shows it is still there and needs to be installed) when I do just that I get a database error message, that is blank?

What should I do to put your modification back?

unfortunately my life just took a nose dive.  I am now homeless, and family-less.  My divorce went into high gear this past week and I am out on my own.  I don't know when I will have my programming computer hooked up again, or even where, and I can't do these things from my work computer.  I haven't even had the chance to upgrade all of my forums to 1.1.6 yet, so I haven't been able to look at the changes.

As soon as I can get back online from a new home I will begin work on this, but I don't have a time table for that.

I apologize to all of those waiting on me.  :(

Best of luck, I have been through it, and as tough as it is, believe me it will get better it just takes time.

After all, in the end, this is just Forum modification.

Hey everyone, I just did two forums.. one upgraded from 1.1.6 to 1.1.7 and a fresh install of 1.1.7.  I have updated the files of the mod to install and work on both forums.  The link in the first post of this thread will take you to the download page.

you want version 1.1.1

I have NOT tested this with an existing version of the Mod, nor with other Mods.  I just got it working a few minutes ago.  There are no other changes as of yet.. thats coming soon!

Let me know if you have problems (let me know if you don't have problems too!)

Enjoy!

Hey BigBLiZZ,

great news and welcome back :) I have been waiting desperately for an update of this brilliant addon :)

I just tested it and it still gives me an error:

I upgraded my forum via the admin interface and not by manually uploading upgrade php and executing - do you think, trying this might help? Or should I add some table or columns manually to the DB?

Hey all.  My server is down with a kernel failure and I am awaiting the f-check scan to finish and reboot.  I haven't been able to do further testing, so if any of you can and report here it will help a lot.

I know with 1.1.7 I have to make some small changes to clear the error log, but nothing should affect the actual workability of the smiley mod.  as for the database error (where line and file are blank) The only thing I have found so far is the database set up is slightly modded from 1.1.5 to 1.1.7 and the Mod looks for the database to be set up as 1.1.6 or lower.  I can't seem to manually remove the groupOrder line from the smf_smileys table after this error comes either and have had to start with a new DB.

I will continue to work on it though!

I've currently installed this mod on a 1.1.7 SMF board...and had absolutely no issues when installing using the Package Manager.  All went without a hitch...even creating the groups caused no problems.

The only issue was when adding the smiley to the group...

Every time I added a smiley...I received a database error.  I continued on until all smileys were added to their appropriate group.  I then proceeded with Forum Maintenance to optimize the tables and clear the forum error logs.

Other than that...all seems to be going well with this mod...

Please...keep us posted as to new updates for this mod...

I will be adding more smileys as time goes on...and would really hate to have to deal with these database errors...every time I want to install more.

Great mod!  Absolutely love it!

New version 2.0.1 is in the works now.  I am writing it for SMF2.  Depending on the ease of transfer I may make it for SMF1 as well, but only time will tell.

I wouldn't expect anything for either SMF version until mid-Feb though.  Lots to do, lots to do.

Hi buddy  :)

Just did a fresh install, on a clean site.  No mods etc.
Still got this error when making a post:

\n'); smileyPopupWindow.document.close(); } // ]]>
Greetings.
This may happen if your hoster inserting code (like ads) before closing tag </body>
as you can see in Post.template.php:
smileyPopupWindow.document.write(\'</td></tr>\n\t\t\t<tr><td align="center" class="windowbg"><a href="javascript:window.close();\\">', $txt['more_smileys_close_window'], '</a></td></tr>\n\t\t</table>\n\t</body>\n</html>\');
so ads gonna be inserted in java script which making page a bit messed. try contact your hoster to disable ads

Sorry for my English :]

-- Edited:
i had same problem with clean smf 1.1.4. solved by removing </body> from code, which i quoted before.

Man you did it & made my day!

How did you ever find this problem fix?

I have server appended adds; I removes the <body> tag and there was the pop-up with a Smiley in it!

Great I am very happy this one is over! Played with this for two days!

I have some fixes for all the data base errors but have to prepare the Post first then I place it into this thread!
:)  ;)  ;D

Some tricky things happened with this mod but it is fixable!

I know exactly what happened in the Data base & what all the errors are about!

For the blank DB and blank error this is what I did to fix it.

1) look at your database and find out what the prefix is that you selected
2) edit add_settings.php where you see $result = db_query("ALTER TABLE `smf_smileys` ADD `smileyGroup`  bigint (20) NOT NULL");

replace smf_smileys with what the table is named in your database
3) find $result = db_query("CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS `smiley_groups`
change "smiley_groups" to "PREFIX_smiley_groups"  again this is to match your database.

I'll check back in a day or so to see if anyone still needs help or PM me

i need to add a line break after a certain number of entries in an array..

i've got a heckavalot of smileys (a combination of lots o smileys and smiley pops, and a whole bunch from various places)
and I'd like the lines to break or at least wrap with the box (so it doesn't make things wider than they already are)
I'm still teaching myself php, so i'm sorta outta my league here right now (not quite to this .. yet!)

This is....

what i have  -  what it looks like right now
(https://www.simplemachines.org/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi4.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fy146%2Fzkitten%2Fest%2Fth_whatitdoes.jpg&hash=d223c835e280035f9e0a12a2ef33305da2dcd35b) (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y146/zkitten/est/whatitdoes.jpg)

what i did  -  (i added a <br> after 'octopuss' in it's block in phpmyadmin)
(https://www.simplemachines.org/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi4.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fy146%2Fzkitten%2Fest%2Fth_whatidid.jpg&hash=7e7be9243fb9c45f3f359989c61d0f583e0ccd70) (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y146/zkitten/est/whatidid.jpg)

what i want it to do  -  basicly, line break after about 12-13 entries.. (did this in paintshop)
(https://www.simplemachines.org/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi4.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fy146%2Fzkitten%2Fest%2Fth_whatiwantittodo.jpg&hash=f57ddea38483a80e6ad8210522dfa2fc3cb2278c) (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y146/zkitten/est/whatiwantittodo.jpg)

i'm pretty sure that i need to add/change something in here-
Quote

        // Display Smiley Groups if they exist
        if (!empty($context['smiley_groups']))
        {
                $max_group_number = 1;
                echo '<tr><td align="right"></td>';
                echo '<td valign="middle">';
                foreach ($context['smiley_groups'] as $smiley_group)
                {
                        echo '<a href="javascript:showSmileyGroup(';
                        echo $smiley_group['number'];
                        echo ');">[';
                        echo $smiley_group['name'];
                        echo ']</a>&nbsp;';
                        if ($smiley_group['number'] > $max_group_number)
                        {
                                $max_group_number = $smiley_group['number'];
                        }

                }
                echo '</td>';
                echo "\n";
                echo '</tr>';
        }

        // Finally the most important bit - the actual text box to write in!

Thanks a lot for your help! The hint that the database could be named wrong did it.

What I did to make it work:
Didn't install via Package Manager but made all edits manually.

in File Sources/ManageSmileys.php
replace
{$db_prefix}smiley_groups
with
{$db_prefix}_smiley_groups

Also I had to manually change the field 'groupNumber' in the table 'smf_smiley_groups' to auto_increment but I guess this was due to a failed installation.
Maybe this will help?

hi! i have smf 1.1.8 and when i try to install this mod i get the blank error, and the error logs saying that there were errors with "Subs.php".

i checked for:
$result = db_query("ALTER TABLE `smf_smileys` ADD `smileyGroup`  bigint (20) NOT NULL");
and
$result = db_query("CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS `smiley_groups`

but they already correctly match the names of my smf_smileys and smf_smiley_groups databases.

what should i do to install smiley pops? :'(

Thanks drhamza!

SMF is still making some slight changes to important parts of the script where SPops runs.  I am waiting for them to be more final (or at least move out of that section, before I make a final version.

I have played around with it a bit, and it seems to be doing okay.  Live tests will be done in the next couple months and hopefully a final release will be out shortly there after.

I am currently working on a version to test/release with SMF 2 RC2.  There are a lot of changes I wasn't ready for, but I am trying.

In the mean time I have updated SPops 1.1.2 to run on all 1.1.X versions (at least I THINK I did).

There are some issues, still, as usual. I am working on those as well, but my main concern right now is with the SMF 2 release.  Once that is tested and working, I will go back to the 1.1.x version and fix some bugs.

I will try to keep everyone updated as much as I can in the next few weeks.

You aren't discouraging me if that's what you mean.  I have never bothered to learn SQL, and about 90% of my code makes database calls now with the new SMF2 versions, so I almost have to restructure the entire Mod from scratch, while teaching myself the SQL methods SMF has switched to, and on top of my personal life, witch now includes college for a bachelors degree.

It's just taking a lot longer than I wanted is all.
Title: Re: Smiley Pops

Hi BigBlizz,

I managed to install this Mod manually a while ago. Unfortunately it keeps filling up my error log as soon as anyone tries to write a post, here are the errors:

2: Invalid argument supplied for foreach()
Datei: /is/htdocs/wp1110482_1T1C3EN4Z7/www/forum/Themes/default/languages/Post.german.php (main sub template - eval?)
Zeile: 846

8: Undefined index: smileys
Datei: /is/htdocs/wp1110482_1T1C3EN4Z7/www/forum/Themes/default/languages/Post.german.php (main sub template - eval?)
Zeile: 846

This doesn't refer to "Post.german.php" though but to "Post.template.php". Line 846 says:
foreach ($smiley_row['smileys'] as $smiley)

What can I do to remove this error? I have several smiley groups with smileys in them and it all works fine, it just spams my error log...

Best regards,

Dani

first off, i really like this mod.
got a quick question, though.
once i've grouped the smilies, is there any way i can rearrange the smilies within the group?

thanks :)
Title: Re: Smiley Pops
Post by: BiGBLiZZ on January 31, 2010, 09:15:20 PM
Okay, easy ones first...

@goombapatrol: unfortunately at this time there isn't. The coding for this mod works off the fact that the pops ups are generated using the smileys classified as "hidden" and in SMF when they are hidden they aren't visible to the public, and SMF didn't think there would be a reason to group unused smileys like you can with some other forum software.  This is something I want to address in a future version, but it isn't able to right now.

@MIAUS: The reason your error log is showing that Post.german.php is having the error is because that is the forum page that actually calls the template.php, so as the forum see's it, that is where the error is coming from.

The first error is 99% of the time, cause by an empty category. Make sure you have at least one smiley in each group. If this isn't the cause let me know. The second error is usually due to a database table itself. Which one, I am not exactly sure, but my guess is the one we add to the existing smiley table. What version of SMF are you using?
Title: Re: Smiley Pops
Post by: goombapatrol on February 01, 2010, 02:51:55 AM
i tried manually changing them one at a time from [more] to a different group, and it seemed to maintain the order for the most part.
however, even when doing that 3 or 4 got switched around.

so, what determines the ordering of the files in the groups?
alphabetical?

glad to hear you'll try to address the issue.
Title: Re: Smiley Pops
Post by: BiGBLiZZ on February 01, 2010, 06:42:05 PM
When smileys are added to your forum (even without my Mod) the image is stored in a folder. The name and ID each one is given my SMF is stored in the database. This unique ID is what they are sorted by. Basically they are stored by database numerically. When you put them in the [more] pop up or the post form they stay where they are because of the SMF link. The hidden category, though, doesn't have this linkage.

Which is what I plan to address. One day. :)

Hope that helps.

Hope you haven't forgotten is all.  Without this mod what the heck am I going to do for smiley organization?  I've hundreds, and it would be impossible to sort them without this!! Impossible I tells ya!!!! :'(

Anyway, thank you for such a great mod.  Blessing be upon you.

Thanks for the praise there. I am still here and still working. It's still going and I am in Alpha testing stages now. I still don't have an ETA for complete release, but it is coming.

It is still working. Had major problems with the JavaScript when Alpha testing and had to start over. I am working on it a little bit every day as I can.

My members are Smiley nuts :)
When I upgraded to SMF 2.0 RC4 and lost Smiley Pops, I thought they were going to revolt ;)

Just thought I'd mention how important, wanted, needed and enjoyed this mod is to me and my group.

Thank you!
Title: Smiley Pops - error on 1.1.12
Post by: cr34t1v3 on December 21, 2010, 07:59:33 PM
Hi BiGBLiZZ,

i love this mod, and already used since my 1.1.7.
yesterday i updated to 1.1.12

and here come some problem:
1. when creating post:
8: Undefined index: group
File: /Themes/default/Post.template.php
Line: 993

2: Invalid argument supplied for foreach()
File: /Themes/default/Post.template.php
Line: 789

8: Undefined index: smiley_groups
File: /Themes/default/Post.template.php
Line: 789

2. I tried to disable this mod to check whether re-enabling will remove the error. but, unfortunately, the menu on top only shows: smiley set and setting, and when i tick enable customized smiley, and click save, only a blank white page shown, with this url: http://forum.anugrahpratama.com/smileys/?sa=settings

hopefully you can help me with this issue, since my forum member also like this mod very much

thanks in advance

My members are as well. I know how needed it is. I am working on it. I lost my php guru guy so I am learning it all on my own this time. I have another friend willing to help but it has to work around his schedule as well. It will be done.  The re-write is currently about 65% done, then another beta test then a release if all goes well.

Still no time frame set for it though, sorry to say.

Title: Re: Smiley Pops
Post by: BiGBLiZZ on June 24, 2011, 10:54:15 AM
I am. And now that 2.0 is a final release I will be submitting the update within a couple of weeks.  Please bear in mind this 2 week release is still tentative, as I have some final tweaking to do, then testing, then more tweaking. Then I will release it and let you all test it, and then fix it again, most likely.

That being said, as long as alpha and beta tests of the final 2.0 release stay working then I will be on schedule for the 2 week release. Keep your fingers crossed, I can't cause I have to type :)

Just about. There is a fatal flaw in the new 2.0.1 coding I have yet to figure out. The change log didn't cover this change so I have to find it myself. Proving tougher than originally thought.

I try to apply this mod in 1.1.15 using the package manager and all I get is a white screen, it fails to install.

Has anyone managed to get it to work on this version?

Anyone using the Babylon theme?

I tried using the package manager to install it on my regular forum, then on a plain vanilla install of 1.1.15, and same blank result of failure each time.

OMG the return of Smiley Pops w00000000000000000000000000000000000000000t
< insert smiley of lunatic doing cartwheels > :D </ insert smiley of lunatic doing cartwheels >

Man you have no idea just how much I loved that plug-in, it is by far one of the biggest improvements ever made to the SMF forums, my old BBS had over 600 smilies, all the members and myself just loved to use them. Smilies make a forum awesome :)

I'll be watching this post daily for any news, when its released I'm going to have a party :D

If you got it to work on 2.0 and it won't work on 2.0.1 I would happily revert to 2.0 and never upgrade again if I could use Smiley Pops :)

with all due respect to its author, that mod isn't good. It allows you to keep the smilies in groups,but the adding of smilies messes up the tabs and it's a constant headache. If you add a group and set it up once it's fine. On going, is not a good replacement

My deepest apologies to the SmileyPops fans. I have to leave. I am moving out of country and will be away from all Internet for the better part of a year. Believe me, no one is more hurt and upset with this than I am.

The Mod is there, ready to be updated. All files are visible and the smf 2.0 php is visible as well. If anyone wants to take over the mod and update it, please do. I hate to see it die in such a way. Anyone may do this, you may take the name as well. If When I return, if nothing has been done I will update it then, or if I can sneak in a few hours during the course, I will do that too.

Again, I apologize.

With sadness..

I also prefer the Smiley Pops format, and here's hoping someone can take it over.  However, until that happens it's the only other option available.  Works fine on my forum.  (2.0.1)

Enjoy your time abroad Biggy!  :laugh:

I may take a look into this mod soon if I can put aside some time :) Would be good to get it working in SMF 2.

If I get to this before anyone else has time then I would be happy to take development off your hands :)
