Title: Path problem Yabb2.1 to new SMF install
Post by: jraabe on November 17, 2007, 08:30:45 PM
I have a basic install of SMF setup and I'm ready to convert an existing Yabb forum. Running convert I keep getting path error messages.

I have setup a new database for SMF, countryp_SMF but I don't think yabb uses it. The standard setup on my server has countryp_forums as the MySQL database.

Could this be part of my problem.

you need the full path..

Such as
/home/cpanelname/public_html/smf

I just tried /home/countryp/public_html/smf (and same for the yabb pointer)

I had earlier tried a full path (http://www.countryplans.com/public_html/smf

Neither is working and the same error message is displayed for both.

DAY 3 - Still trying to set the path properly for convert.php. Looking today at the host (Site5) settings...

I am wondering if there is a problem with the MySQL settings? Doesn't seem too likely as the SMF install seems to work fine...

I know that the conversion program is in the directory as I get a big red error message :D! I just can't get the conversion program to find and start the yabb2.1 forum.

Make a new file with this code. Upload it to the same place as convert.php and Settings.php and run it from your browser. This should output the directory you should be using

<?php echo dirname(__FILE__); ?>

Just want to tell everyone (including the sleepy one) thanks and that the conversion went much more smoothly than I had any right to expect
