Hello, I am currently using version 1.0.8 and I am getting
a warning on my site that there is a potential security risk.
(thebaitplace.net/onlinestore) To try to correct this I have been trying to upgrade to version 1.1.4 thru package manager. When I try to download webinstall I get a message saying unable to read file. file type not supported. Needless to say I am looking for help. Thanks
You cannot upgrade between major smf versions via the package manager.
Please note, after you do this you will need to re-install all your themes and mods, plus any manual changes you made to files.
First backup your db and all your files.
Now download the upgrade package to your computer.
You need to replace the files on your forum ftp with those in the package.
Be careful NOT to delete files like settings.php, settings_bak.php and avatars/attachments etc which won't be replaced.
Then run upgrade.php in your browser.
It should update your forum to 1.1.4.
Now you will need to reinstall any mods and themes.
