Otsikko: Open source music library
Kirjoitti: Podologo - joulukuu 03, 2007, 07:06:44 AP
Boy, do I need some help! I have searched for two days for a script that will let me install something that will allow uploading of personal music files that other registered users can access, but to no avail.

So, I thought I would ask in SMF with all of the knowledge that members have.

I want it to be based on my server as opposed to some sites where they hold the database. I would also like to be able to create profiles, and maybe a small section for posts, but nothing else.

Does anyone know where I can find such a commodity that will do all this?

Regards

Podologo

Access as in, stream or roughly just a download section with member-contributed uploads ?

Thanks for your reply, HCR.

At the moment the musicians are using soundclick, but they want their own private area for their music files on their website server. I guess it is much the same as uploading photos to a personal photo album and allowing other registered users to see them. The music would need to be able to be played at source, ie, without downloading it.

I will be extremely grateful if you can suggest a suitable piece of software.

Best regards

Can you clarify something for me? Is this somewhat what you are looking for?
My profile (http://www.capabmx.com/Forums/index.php?action=profile;u=1), It's my profile on my forum. The profile is actually a mod made by JovanT, check http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=183574.0.
The music player I have installed on my site is the xspf music player (http://www.e162s.com/programs/xspf_player.htm).
Follow his instructions, but note, I installed it into a separate folder and not in my forums root folder, because I didn't know if it would affect it in any way. Making playlists is very easy, and I've been trying to find a way to make a playlist generator for it, so it's promising. I hope this helps in anyway possible :). Oh and Best of luck to you!

Hi capabmx,

Yes, it is something I want for a website, and your suggestion of the mod is great, except I am using SMF 2.0 Beta 1.1, so maybe the mod won't work on it, and I am not game to try.

I was wondering if there was some script or program I could install within the website to do what this mod does.

Many thanks for taking the time to reply, and for showing me how the mod works.

Cheers
