I just finished setting up apache, mysql, php etc.. onto one of my computers to turn it into a webserver it works pretty good. I installed SMF and works great as well. I came to school yesterday and went to look at my site and when I went to the forums they loaded really slowly and then only the text appeared. Do I have some ports closed? or is there an easier solution if there even is one?
shadowbrooks.no-ip.org or www.virtual-security.org
btw the domain name is for sale if you need it :)
Yes you have some forum path's that are incorrect.
Grab the Repair Settings tool from
http://www.simplemachines.org/download/?tools
And copy to the main forum's path and run the tool to fix the paths
Yep you need to run repair settings. I was watching the status bar and localhost must be put in for the location of the board. You need this to be your domain name like www.virtual-security.org.
Just as a warning, running a web server on your home internet connection can get your service terminated. Almost all providers have a prohibition in their contract, unless you are using their "business services".
As I see you are on Shaw's network, here is the wording from: http://www.shaw.ca/en-ca/AboutShaw/TermsofUse/AcceptableUsePolicyInternet.htm (Emphasis mine)
Lainaa
