I think that SMF should have more Data Storage options. Instead of just mySQL, maybe postgres, Oracle, and SQLite?

SMF 2.0 supports PostgreSQL, and SQLite in very beta form.

I figured it might but I did not know. Although Oracle would be nice too. :) Just a suggestion, if not implemented, no harm, no fowl.

Why Oracle? My limited experience with it has lead me to think it's a pain to work with, and it doesn't seem to follow SQL standards as much as other systems.

Honestly, I figure it would be good for the servers that only use oracle. Why force a potential user to switch to something else when you can just include Oracle support already?

On another note, alot of other Forum Systems support Oracle and SMF shouldn't be left in the dark. It is, after all, the best forum system I have ever used.

We are planning for supporting MySQL, PostgreSQL, and SQLite for 2.0 final. It is certainly a good future goal to offer built-in support, however I don't think we have the developer resources to get it officially supported by 2.0. Our abstraction is very clean, so it wouldn't be hard for a sufficiently motivated individual to build the support themselves.
