I just want to allow my members to create their own member groups and then allow other members to join them if they want where only the creator of the group and accept the request. ANYONE help?

That doesn't sound quite right because they can't create groups, but just move people. And it sounds as if they want anyone to be able to do it. But the topic starter can give more clarification before I start. :D

Not what I am looking for, I do not want to create groups for my members I want them to create their own.
Here is what I am looking for.
1. Each member can create how ever many groups I allow them to, 0- Unlimited.
2. Each member can join groups just finding that group and clicking join group, once they click join group, only the group leader can accept that request
3. Group leaders able give leader status to other group members
4. group leaders can delete members
5. members can leave groups if they wish to
6. These groups do not have to be connected to the forum permissions! I just want people to start a group of their own, That has nothing to do with the forum permissions.
7. I want to be able to change the name of the title "groups" to whatever I want. Like Clan, Team, Community.
Thats all I need right now, maybe anyone else can add ideas?
There isnt an exact thing as that as the moment, however you post is in the right area (mod requests) so maybe someone will take a stab at making it.

Me too, and urgently! I think that this would be easy for programmers to create, I would even try to do it myself, but I'm scared of screwing up my forums, since I'm not a programmer.
I'd like to contribute so once it's made, I'll translate it to Spanish and Serbian, maybe even do some designing job if needed. :-)
looks like this would be a popular mod to add in to SMF, so if any modders can please help it would be GREAT!! I would do this myself if I could find the time to learn php but I'm finding it hard to get the motivation to do that..
Also to note. this is similar to myspace groups, its not the same but if SMF modders could start simulating the same things on those popular websites like myspace and facebook you would be doing your users a great service. Most users want sites like those and I think SMF should keep up with them at least... The myspace programmers are keeping up with facebook. I know SMF programmers can do the same..
I think the modders have done great with videos and image galleries, now we need more social gathering mods.. Like showing images of the recent members or popular members.. linking profile images in the friends list.. a lot can be done to really set SMF above other forum board scripts I hope a admin reads this so they think about what I am saying..

Snake was working on something like this but it's gone now :( I would really like to have something like this.
Hopefully, someone will continue his work, this mod would be a revolution for SMF!

LOLwut, please don't criticize without giving support information. Tell us why you dislike the idea, not just simply that you don't.
In any case, like Perplexed said, Snake was working on this, but he seems to have fallen off the edge of the earth. If I remember correctly, before he left, he seemed to be handing over control of his mods to someone else. I'm not certain, since soon after he deleted his forum, and those threads are now inaccessible. And google failed to cache them as well.
no one has control of this mod as it was not even at alpha. Truesatan/smf helper picked up a couple of the existing mods.
I will start a new thread for what I want since this one is perhaps misleading
