Otsikko: Closing censored words loop hole
Kirjoitti: jelv - joulukuu 30, 2007, 07:43:17 IP
Has anyone done a mod to close the well known loophole in the censored word checking when redundant BBCode is inserted in to the banned word? E.g.
naug[b][/b]htyword
which gets straight through as naughtyword

I would have thought all it needed was any bbcode stripping before doing the lookup.

Moved to Mod Requests

I don't think a mod to do this has ever been written. I believe this issue was also discussed amongst the team and it was decided not to fix it. If someone wants to circumvent the filter there will always be ways to do it. For example using 0 instead of o or just general 'chat style' misspellings.

The censor is really only used to prevent people typing 'bad words' if they don't know they are disallowed. If someone really wants to bypass the filter they'll always find a way.
