Kirjoitti: SssS - tammikuu 02, 2008, 04:05:28 IP
hi, a newbie here planning to create a forum.

I'm planning to have a forum in chinese; yet, I'm more familiar with website terms in English. So, in your opinion, what should I do?

Does SMF provide forum software in mandarin anyway?

Thanks

Welcome to SMF!

SMF can be used in a variety of different languages. Our supported languages can be downloaded here (http://www.simplemachines.org/download/?languages). These include a traditional and simplified Chinese (not being familiar with the language I'm not quite sure if that is what you are looking for).

In your case it might be best to have the forum's default language set to Chinese, but set your own language to English. That way new users and guests would see your whole forum in Chinese, but when logged in as your account the forum would be in English (except of course posts which SMF can't translate).

What should I do? Should I install smf english version and then install the chinese package later on?

Yes.

All you have to do with languages is place them in the languages folder of the default theme.  Provided any custom themes do not have their own languages folders, this'd make it global between all themes

What buttons are not working correctly?

Btw, my forum uses English and simplified Chinese, so maybe we can help each other. :P

The six buttons on top - home, help, search, .... are not working well. In fact, the buttons work, I can click on it and it brings me to be destinated site. Yet, what's shown is an error image with a cross on the 'button'

Yeah, we can help each other. I'm very new anyway. Hope you don't mind. =)

Anyone knows how to solve the problem? The buttons are alright for visitors, but not working fine for members.
