Hi,
I am new here. I have just downloaded and installed SMF 1.0 RC2 .
I have a phpbb forum, i am testing if SMF is better.
My phpbb is a private forum . I am just wonding, is there a way to disable non-registered guests viewing NEWS BOX and KEY STATS , so I can keep every private and secured for registered members only?
Thank you very much.
Hi,
I found that part of code in index.template.php . I added a
if ($context['user']['is_logged'])
for that part of code and it is working (although there is an empty space in the index page).
Just to confirm , in case i missed it, there are no such settings in the Admin Control Panel, right ? ;)
Thanks.
Yes, that will do.
you can disable news in Admin CP.

key stats is probably a template thing.

yeah i just commented those lines out of the template. i think that's one of the downsides of SMF, instead of just some module-oriented template system like Mambo, its all about changing the template. i think it should be more like you set up a Spot A and B in your template and then in the admin section you seleft IF something is displayed in Spot A or B or not at all. thus just changing WHAT is displayed in the template but you dont change the template.
in mambo, if you have a position LEFT and you have nothing displayed in LEFT, nothing is displayed, but nothing is changed in the template. If you select for example a menu displayed in LEFT, its displayed in LEFT, but the template is not changed.....
