This is a general issue.
Usually in certain websites, they provide comment link where you can place your name, email and website url. I found just lately that your url in your comment has a rel="nofollow" in the viewable code of the site.
Does it mean that if you comment on this blog with your url, that won't give a plus to your Search Engine Optimization effort?
indeed, any links with rel="nofollow" will not give any pagerank.
Although it doesn't mean don't follow this link, it just means, don't give any weight to it.
So in that sense it a waste of time posting any links where links are rel="nofollow" unless you expect to get alot of clicks/traffic from humans from it.
Karl, thank you for your clarification. I've wasted my time in those Wordpress blogs.
Karl, how about in SMF sites, does it have a default code that gives a nofollow tag to url?
rel="nofollow" is NOT added to ANY links in smf by default.
I have created mods which do that though.
Although are you talking about <meta name="robots" content="noindex" /> which is a totally different matter.
Thanks Karl. Great insight for today.
