Otsikko: Age to be part of SMF team?
Kirjoitti: Cloggedone - tammikuu 25, 2008, 04:35:01 IP
Not Charter member, but like support or developers? What is the minimum age to be a part of it? Just wondering.

there is no real hard age limit though we do look at maturity but that differs from person to person. team positions are strictly volunteer from top to bottom so there is also no real legal  limit. what we tend to look for is active, mature, and self motivated individuals with knowledge in a particular field.

Yeah I think that it should be like that. Age doesn't mean much really I know some 12 year olds that are exceptionally great coders.

Being able to program well doesn't mean you have the maturity to be on the team either.

Plus being able to program isn't a requirement for being on the team - the team is much more than just a bunch of programmers - though of course that helps in most roles.

As Dannii rightly says, it's actually much more about maturity than anything else. You can have the World's greatest programmer but if they are unable to get along with the team, unable to accept criticism, unable to produce sensible work then they're unlikely to do well.

However, even once you're on the team, maturity isn't always what matters :P
