Otsikko: Ban Feature Extention
Kirjoitti: brianjw - tammikuu 27, 2008, 07:54:07 IP
I think the following should be added as a default feature in SMF. With settings in the admin panel to enable/disable it.

When a user spams, for example:

Lainaa
KARMA KARMA KARMA KARMA KARMA KARMA KARMA KARMA....
and the admin bans the user for THIS post. There would be a button/text that only membergroups allowed to ban can see. It would be shown as BAN USER or whichever. When clicked, it allows you to fill out a form, like the current one. Except it bans the user for that exact post. Then the message would say: "Sorry you have been banned from this forum because of the post you made to TOPIC-NAME" and the reason would be displayed bellow that. If the user wasnt banned from a post, it would display as it normally does. If the user had gotten banned because of a post, the full post would look like:
Lainaa
KARMA KARMA KARMA KARMA KARMA KARMA KARMA KARMA....

(User was banned for this post (Reason: REASON-HERE))

That message would appear in the post itself. The user wouldn't be allowed to edit the post he was banned from, only membergroups who can edit other peoples posts could edit that post.

Everyone with proper permissions could see the banned message. So the admin would have to set "View other users banned messages." in the permissions for the membergroup they're in for them to see other peoples banned messages.

I got the idea from vbulletin and it is really a much smaller extention to the ban list then this post length gives you the impression of. I think it's a good idea.

I'd rate this as a 7 or 8. I think it's a neat idea, and depending on your forum could certainly be a good way to allow others to see what people get banned for.
