Just converted to SMF.
My old forum had a jpg in the header that linked to my gallery.
Can we do this here?
Kim
Yes it is possible. You just need to add the code to display it in your template. You'd want to look at index.template.php.
Thanks for a lead in the right direction. But...I bet 99% of us don't write code. Is there a page where this has been done? Or an article on this?
Kim
A lot depends on where you want this image, what the theme is, etc. That makes it difficult to write an article. There have been many people asking about adding different graphical things, so you can try doing a search. Also, if you give a bit more information on position and theme, I might be able to help more.
BTW, you don't need to be an extreme coder to do this type of stuff, you just need basic HTML skills. Every website owner should learn that much as it helps a lot in doing simple things on a site.
Upper right. Default theme.
I could learn but I am not in the business and would soon forget all over time due to not using what I learned.
Thx
Kim
Okay. We'll replace the SMF logo in the top right then.
First, place the image in themes/default/images/
Next, open themes/default/index.template.php in a text editor.
Search for:
<td align="right" class="catbg">
<img src="', $settings['images_url'], '/smflogo.gif" style="margin: 2px;" alt="" />
</td>
Change to:
<td align="right" class="catbg">
<a href="http://SOMEURL/"><img src="', $settings['images_url'], '/SOMEIMAGE.JPG" style="margin: 2px;" alt="" /></a>
</td>
Replace "SOMEURL" and "SOMEIMAGE.JPG" to the actual stuff you want.
Big thanks for your help. :)
One more q. What do I edit to make it a link to my Gallery?
This is what I have now...
http://www.windriderforum.com/smf/index.php
Thanks
Kim
Change where I put "SOMEURL" to the actual gallery link.
Now it comes back to me. I've done this years ago. You made my day.
Huge thanks mam
Kim
