Encountered a problem. I installed 1.0 and am trying to install it so I can use 1.1, but SMF can't seem to 'uninstall' it. All I get is a blank screen. This has never happened before with other packages.

If I try to 'list files' I get this error:

2: file_exists(): open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/install.xml) is not within the allowed path(s): (/home/httpd/vhosts/pinoydvd.com/httpdocs:/tmp)
File: /home/httpd/vhosts/********.***/httpdocs/board/Sources/Subs-Package.php
Line: 327

Any suggestions?

Probably you have any other MOD installed which creates conflicts.
SMFbuy is tested on a clean version of SMF.

P.S. Has released version 1.2 of SMFbuyPRO with support for decimal numbers and other functions.

Hi,

The image for the auction in the PRO version is not displaying. How do you post an image when you make a listing? I think it comes from the the standard image attachment but this wont be apparent to inexperienced users. It should have its own image upload field and allow multiple images which can be set in the admin.

This is a very good mod but needs some development such as system generated emails for buyer and seller when the sale takes place, paypal links for payment. The fields for best offer, buy it now should only display if you select that as your auction type. its confusing otherwise for new users as you are presented with starting prices etc when you only want to use buy it now. The currency cant be set in the admin and this should definitely be the case.

This has superb potential and many congratulations to the mod author.

Regards,

Wilsy.

You cannot view the attachment image in post with firefox. This is a problem of your PC.

I removed my posts about missing pictures in Firefox

I'm terribly sorry!

I forgot I had turned on a massive ad-blocker last time I used Firefox !

My intension was not to miscredit your programming, I honestly thought there was a bug that needed to be fixed in this superb auction app

I was happy to find this mod and will most likely use it, I was critical as I wanted to make sure it would work in both IE and Firefox, and my memory of installing a adblocker was completely gone...

Sorry again.

Error in Package Installation
At least one error was encountered during a test installation of this package. It is strongly recommended that you do not continue with installation unless you know what you are doing, and have made a backup very recently. This error may be caused by a conflict between the package you're trying to install and another package you have already installed, an error in the package, a package which requires another package that you don't have installed yet, or a package designed for another version of SMF.

There's an error on the file modification.italian.php or a conflict with other mod.

In theory, if you do not use the italian language should skip that file as has happened with previous file.

If you do not use the italian language and do not have the files modification.italian.php you can continu the installation.

Please, enter in your database and give this query:

SELECT MIN(b.ID_THUMB) FROM smf_messages AS a, smf_attachments AS b WHERE a.ID_TOPIC = '3851'
AND a.ID_MSG = b.ID_MSG AND b.ID_THUMB != '0';

You must be change the:
smf_
with your table prefix.

This query return the attachment ID (1012 ?). Post the result.

Attach an example. In this example the result is 9.

I've been trying to install SMFbuyPRO and got a pre-installation warning on post.php.
I tried to run the installation package through SMF PAckage parser so I could try and do that bit manually but I got the message back:
Quote
ERROR: The package-info.xml file is invalid!

Debugging Information
Error message: String could not be parsed as XML
Source: /home/sleepy1/public_html/PackageParser/index.php:155

Can anyone tell me what gets inserted in/ edited in post.php?

Hi,

It might be a good idea if you allowed registrations at your support forum so we can post them there? The SMFBuy Pro isn't really out of BETA and this should have been explained before asking people to make donations.

This isn't a complaint, just an observation.

It's a bad idea to use the post attachments for the image display in this mod. It needs its own image upload field when a user is setting up the auction. I would suggest up to five images should be allowed.

Regards,

Wilsy.

Actually I can not test the 2.0 version. When 2.0 version is out, I make an SMFbuy MOD version for SMF 2.0.

For your problem, I not understand if you have a modifications.italian.php file.

You you have the file, check if the file finish with:
?>

Otherwise you can create a modifications.italian.php with this content:
<?php

?>

Create a new file is not dangerous.

I had to write that the beta version is why some people have overcome some bugs.

The MOD has just born and I think it is normal that some bugs.

These bugs were quickly corrected and version 1.7 (the latest) seem to be ok.

Obviously I can not even ensure that it is free of bugs.

In any case, the MOD does not change existing tables in the database and thus damage to the database you will not have never in any case.

I asked other people who have tried to write here SMFbuyPRO their comments, but only a few have done and often negative comments, even if their problems have solved them.

Sorry, but I did not understand.
Are you talking about SMFbuy (base version)?

After you have installed, you need to set permissions for users and for the board as specified in the description of MOD:

Description:

This MOD lets you create an auction system for SMF.

Remember: you must set the board permission!

Please: consider the idea to upgrade to PRO version.

thanks for your quick reply :)

I am in the process of testing out various mods on my test forum before installing them on my live one which will probably be in 2-3 weeks so this is one I would like to test more to see how useful it would be to members.

I looked quickly at your test site but I need to investigate it some more to see what you can do with this mod.

One thing I wanted to ask - is it possible to have categories for auction items - example:  members would select from a dropdown list
a category for their item - books, toys, computers, shoes etc

Thanks again :)

Actually no, but I consider the idea for next release.

yes, the base version. I have set permissions for both usrers/boards and still nothing slows. when looking at the sreencaps you have on your site one shows that there should be a box in the user profile section which I don't have. the ony place I see this mod is in my admin panel which allows me to set the number of days.

Sorry, but if a mod is called SMFbuy and another mod is called SMFbuyPRO there is a reason.
On my site is clearly written that you are talking about the PRO version, which obviously has more functions than the free version.

SMFbuy != SMFbuyPRO

hello again

Sometimes on our site, people offer items for free or for trade.  It is possible to make some changes to allow people to offer items free of charge or perhaps to trade for something else, rather than to always put a price on an item.  I just tested it in your forum but I had to put a price of $1.   I know that defeats the purpose of a mod called 'SMFBuy' but I wondered how difficult it would be to allow this to happen?

Perhaps another option on the dropdown menu:

free
trade
auction
buy it now
best offer

Hi,
Maybe it would be interesting to develop it, but at the moment I can not imagine a sale of something free.
For the exchange, the MOD should bring the exchange more convenient but how do I determine this?
At this point it is better to open a topic without listing.

Good point.  I suppose people could just open a topic in that board instead of opening a new listing.

Thanks

Very nice mod you have here. I think I will be giving you a few bucks for the Pro soon. I will get all the updates for free if I donate for the Pro now? So 1.7 is out, do I get 1.8 for free, and 1.9? And so on.

I just wanted to ask if there was a way to not use attached pics? People can still put pics in the body of the auctions. What I would like to have is a standard pic up in the left hand corner of each auction. Where the attached image goes.

Thanks!

With donation you can access at the new future release.

For the pic, in the next release, is possible to link an image simply paste the url.

Monotiz, on your test site, did you disable the 'contact seller' option and the option to view other people's profiles?  I tried and it doesn't work so I wondered if it just wasn't working or if you had disabled that.

The title of this thread is SMFbuy - not SMFbuyPRO.
Anyway......
Concerning SMFbuy:
Mine installed (and UNinstalled) without any manual edits.  The problem is/was that the Bidder had the option button to close the auction.
Also, there was a tiny little Dropdown in the bid area that was empty (labled, "Type").  ???

Bidding didn't add anything to the thread (reply post) but don't know if it was supposed to.

Very little information about this Mod.

Hi all. I am a newbie here and have some questions with SMFbuy.
I can't see where to use this feature. Is there supposed to be a tab in the navi bar? or is it somewhere else?
I am using the default style
My permissions are set to allow "Post new SMFbuy Item" and "Allow to make an Offer"
I have installed and unistalled it with no difference. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank You

This Mod seems to have a couple minor problems but........
(on MY install...)  on your Topic list page, the row of Tabs on the right:
Mark Read  |  Notify  |  New Topic  |  Post new poll  |  New SMFbuy Item

And to set your options in Admin, it's under:
Configuration
(below 'Themes & Layout')
SMFbuy

You probably installed the mod manually and have twice reported the same portion of code.
Check the file post.template.php.

Only admin and moderator can close listings. Check the function CloseItem() in SMFbuy.php file.
In the dropdown menu you can choose only auction because the other type of listings are implement only in PRO version.

If you do that, then everyone will know who bid on the item. Some sellers/bidders may not like that. Or put something in the admin section to turn it off and on.

I have 9 boards on my forum, with two dedicated to buying and selling and I want the button link to only show on the two, rather than all.

the answer is no as I already asked Monotiz.  The only thing you can do is to switch some boards to use local permissions.  That's a huge job for me as we have 100s of boards.  :(  Apart from that this is a great mod.  :)

I would love to do this too as I said but we have over 800 boards  :-\

this is really excellent and just what we wanted, works brilliantly!

Title: Re: SMFbuy

Well I got the SMFbuy Pro. I am testing things out. So far this mod is A+ in my book. Seems he is doing updates to the mod every 2 or 3 days. You do have to set local permissions, so the mod will not show up in non auction categories. The install was quick and easy with no errors. I used the package manager of course.

What I had installed for mods before SMFBuy was installed on my site is:
SMF 1.1.4
TP 0.9.8
SMFBuy 2.3
Referrals Mod
Custom Profile Field Mod
Gmail Field
Enhanced Quick Reply Box 2.0.2
Display Age and Location next to posts
FontandSizeDropdown_1.2

I have Dilber Multicolor  as a theme. It looks like the button for SMFBuy is not showing when using that theme. Eveything else for the mod is showing. Well, so far that is all I see wrong. So this is the only thing I need to work on. May ask for help on this also.

One thing I would like added, is a way to cancel/edit a bid without ending the auction. At least I didn't see a way.

So congrats to MonoTiz for a great mod. Thanks!
Title: Re: SMFbuy

So I messed with Dilber Multicolor theme and got the *NEW SMFBUY ITEM* button to show and work in the MessageIndex.template.php.

Here is what I did:

Open and edit the MessageIndex.template.php in /Themes/dilbermc.

Do a search for:
// Create the button set...
$normal_buttons = array(
'markread' => array('text' => 'mark_read_short', 'image' => 'markread.gif', 'lang' => true, 'url' => $scripturl . '?action=markasread;sa=board;board=' . $context['current_board'] . '.0;sesc=' . $context['session_id']),
'notify' => array('test' => 'can_mark_notify', 'text' => 125, 'image' => 'notify.gif', 'lang' => true, 'custom' => 'onclick="return confirm(\'' . ($context['is_marked_notify'] ? $txt['notification_disable_board'] : $txt['notification_enable_board']) . '\');"', 'url' => $scripturl . '?action=notifyboard;sa=' . ($context['is_marked_notify'] ? 'off' : 'on') . ';board=' . $context['current_board'] . '.' . $context['start'] . ';sesc=' . $context['session_id']),

'new_topic' => array('test' => 'can_post_new', 'text' => 'smf258', 'image' => 'new_topic.gif', 'lang' => true, 'url' => $scripturl . '?action=post;board=' . $context['current_board'] . '.0'),

'post_poll' => array('test' => 'can_post_poll', 'text' => 'smf20', 'image' => 'new_poll.gif', 'lang' => true, 'url' => $scripturl . '?action=post;board=' . $context['current_board'] . '.0;poll'),

Right after, add:
'post_smfbuy' => array('test' => 'can_post_smfbuy', 'text' => 'new_smfbuy', 'lang' => true, 'url' => $scripturl . '?action=post;board=' . $context['current_board'] . '.0;smfbuy'),

This will the button in all of the colors in this theme. So this is the only edit you should have to do.

I hope MonoTiz don't mind me posting this. Just trying to help others.

This mod allows you to facilitate organized ads that your members post...when the auction closes both parties are notified and then it is up to them to complete the payment process outside of the site via what ever payment option they decide upon. It is not integrated into any payment processor at this time that I know of.

I really like it, I think that it is awesome...and the auther has been very helpful by answering all questions and helping.

If you do not know, I will figure it out and post it up. It will just have to wait till later tonight.

You should let people know about the SMFBuy Pro ver. upgrades here. Maybe add it to the 1st post if you have not yet.

MonoTiz, I was thinking on installing TechHead TP theme (http://www.tinyportal.net/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=item522). You wouldn't happen to know what edits would have to be done for SMFBuy Pro to work right?

On a side note, I would like to say that this mod is awesome. MonoTiz is doing a great job with updating the mod also. He has added some great stuff to it. Again, congrats to him.

Hi MonoTiz -
I just installed the 1.3 version and when I post a smfbuy item and type in the start bid amount, or reserve, it does not show when posted.

Another thing is the button to bid that says "Take an offer",  how do I change the button to say "Make an offer" or "Place bid"?

I am interested in the pro version but really not sure if these issues are in the pro version or not.

Thanks - looking forward to a great mod.

MonoTiz,

I uploaded the new one and it works excellent and now shows "Place a Bid".
The starting price also works now.

One more thing, I could not find a link to the test auction of SMFbuy. Is it possible you can PM me a link to where I can see a demo of Pro version in action on the front and maybe the administrative backend. I was on your site and saw where the test demo is but the links were down. I read that there were problems so it was taken down.

Thanks!

Hey ford8 -
I saw your site and it is pretty nice. This is where I saw smfbuy in action anywhere for the first time a few days ago. That was when I installed the mod to my site to see if it would be just as nice. I am still testing it to see how it operates. Most sites have it where guests cannot get into the auction board unless register. Smfbuy is pretty cool that it tells you that you cannot bid unless you are registered. Your site is pretty nice and the theme is really cool.

MonoTiz - keep up the good work!

Hello,

I have a custom theme and after installing this mod and using the modification provided boy fords8, I got the SMFbuy listing button to show up on the topic nav bar.

However, after listing a new SMFbuy item, the listing doesn't show up in the thread. It looks like a regular thread post only. Any idea?

What theme are you trying to use 4b11l? It does the same thing with TechHead TP theme. There are more files that need to be edited. MonoTiz will have to look at it. I have not had time to try and get it to work in TechHead TP theme.

I think I've discovered a little bug. I was getting the following error when I tried deleting a board.

Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_ARRAY in /home/content/W/a/r/******/html/smf/Sources/RemoveTopic.php on line 60

Here are the MODs I have installed

1.     Ad Managment      2.3.3
2.    Move Old Topics    1.0
3.    Users Online Today    1.5.0
4.    YouTube BBCode    2.3
5.    nneonneo's AJAX ShoutBox    1.13
6.    SMFbuy    1.3
7.    Todays Birthday SMF2.0    0.1.2

Also I do have the latest version of SMFbuy

Anyways I un-installed each MOD one at a time and then tried to delete the board. I was able to delete the board after I un-installed SMFbuy. i tried it several times with the same results.

Could someone else try to delete a board and tell me if you get the same error?

PM me if any of you would like to see the mod in action as a reg. user on a site. You should be able to post new test stuff and we can bid and leave test feedback and stuff. So yeah, PM for link to it.

Post the code line form line 50 to line 70 of your RemoveTopic.php file, or send me the file.
I have test this:
- create a new board "pippo".
- post some listing (smfbuy items) in this board.
- remove the board "pippo"
and i'ts all ok. I haven't error. Probably there is a conflict with Move Old Topic....

Final60, put your site back to the default theme and make sure SMFBuy is working right. Once you do that, you must edit your theme to show the things for SMFBuy to show up. Just about every theme is different. The way it is writen. So you have to dig alittle and do some edits.

Package ID: karlbenson:autoembedvideoclips
Package name: Auto Embed Video Clips
Package version: 2.1.5
Package type: modification

which obviously isnt the rightpackage, strange. If anyone can get a pckage parsar to work and post the instuctions it gives? would be much appreciated!

Hey 4b11l
To answer your question on my boards.

Heya
I managed to find the location oif the listing page and the create listing pages which are as follows!

show listings: http://www.dcpryzom.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=smfbuy;sa=showalllistings;start=0
create listing: http://www.dcpryzom.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=post;board=1.0;smfbuy

As you can see both appear correctly, its just the section above a new post where you cn choose to bid on an existing ite that doesnt appear!

I suspect its something in my boards theme template thats needs to be added, quite above my head though.
All help much appreciated!

Just searched for the "display.template.php" in the "install114.xml" file tht you mentioned and changed it to point my current themes display.template.php file.  It worked, BUT the place bid section now shows twice instead of once!? Please advice!

Also is there a way to make the listings post in a specific section of the forum?

Look through the code in the display.template file and you will probably find you have duplicated it, remove the duplication

As for making the listings show in a specific board, decide which boards you want them to appear in, then switch them to use local permissions

Hi! Total newbie to customisation so apologies if this a simple fix...

Installed SMFbuyPRO 2.6 without a problem and all the admin options are present and correct. I've ticked all the boxes and saved the settings. Made a separate board and made it local, with the SMFbuy options just set for that board.

Only problem I now have is that I can't see any options to allow me to create a listing. Nothing showing up anywhere to indicate that SMFbuy is on the forum.

My theme is GoldNight2-2-1/

Any help would be really appreciated.

Cheers,
Jonny

Edit: Just noticed a page back that someone else had the same problem, must have missed it first time I read through the thread.

I'll try and figure out what edit I need to do...

Hi
To get the listing view , where you actually bid on the item, I had to edit the install114.xml file. display.template.php.

Open the install114.xml file in notepad, then use cntrl+f and type in "display.template.php" and click find next..skip the first search find, but edit the second two finds so the point to your themes display.template.php file ie:

$boarddir/Themes/definition114/Display.template.php is what i had to put in instead of the default one it was pointing to.
Then remove package, and reinstall.

As for creating a listing and viewing the listings. Go to your website and after the index.php in address put:
?action=smfbuy;sa=showalllistings;start=0 To see listings
?action=post;board=1.0;smfbuy to create a new listing

I had to create new links on my nav menu that point to these pages, as a work around to the smfbuy link not showing up. Hope  that helps.
regards,

Please, use my site for discussion of SMFbuyPRO

Hey Mono,

Any thoughts of having a listing where the item can be bought multiple times? Such as entering a quantity and the listing doesn't expire until all quantities has been bought.

Thanks.

I run a small non-profit (at least for now) discussion forum. What would be an appropriate donation amount (in US Dollars) for the PRO version? I honestly have no clue...

EDIT: Answered elsewhere, donation sent, thank you - looking forward to using the pro version!

1-Check your all package please, the package-info.xml file is invalid.
2-Check your Subscription page
Title: SMFbuy and the Classic YaBB SE Theme
Post by: Iseeuu on May 15, 2008, 11:07:49 PM
I have read through all 9 pages of posts and done a thorough comparison of my theme's files and the SMF Default Core Theme.  When I change to the Default theme, SMFbuy works just fine. How cool?  :o  Now to get the "New SMFbuy Item" and the "Make Offer" buttons to show in my custom theme.  I based it on the "Classic YaBB SE Theme" and SMFbuy doesn't show these buttons there either.

SMF 1_1_5 and SMFbuy 1_4

Where the Default Theme has many files, YaBB only has: BoardIndex_template, Display_template, Index, Index_template, MessageIndex_template, post_ and Recent_template (php).  Now the Default Theme, MessageIndex_template_php has a "//Create the button set.." section where the "post_smfbuy" code has been added.  This file in YaBB omits this section, but both have a "function theme_show_buttons()" section.  However, SMFbuy does not use this function code, and I have not found anything similar in the other files.

Question:  Is it possible to modify the "theme_show_buttons()" function to add the SMFbuy buttons?

Its my bedtime and I am tired and my vision is blurred.  Tomorrow I will look at the code in the rest of the files mentioned.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

That depends on the mod author, he can't be forced to stick around and give support for mods he has created, he's probably busy at the moment. Usually when mod authors can't continue with such projects, a message like this (http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=906) is displayed on the mod's page.
I'll advice you to read thorugh previous posts in this thread and see if your current issue has been resolved already.

This mod is not yet ready for 1.1.6. However, there is a little trick to fix it. Open the zipped file, then edit package-info.xml. Find the install for... line and replace 1.1.5 to 1.1.6. Do the same for uninstall.

Then repack the files and try the  install again.

Just did so myself.

You could also possibly set a charge per membergroup, then only allow that membergroup the ability to post new ads. This would make it so people could respond to ads, but only charged members could post.

sure

QuoteThis feature facilitates organised ads to be posted by members.  When the auction closes both parties are notified and then it is up to them to complete the payment process outside of the site via what ever payment option they decide upon. It is not linked to Paypal or any other payment processor.

Just a little word of advice.  I don't think many people are going to want to part with their money or feel comfortable making a donation if you don't reply to them.  Your own site says that it is compatible with RC1, but you don't say it here in the main thread, so I'm sure people are going to be a little confused.  In telling people that you need to install a basic version and then to donate in order to get the pro version it almost seems like something odd is going on when there's no replies.  I wish you luck because it looked like a nice mod from what I could tell, but at this point, I'll look elsewhere or see if your business sense improves in dealing with potential customers/donators.

According to his website smfbuy pro is compatible up to 2.0 RC1.  Monotiz was last active here on 21 May, possibly he is on vacation, ill or revising for exams, who knows but he may be busy - like we all are from time to time.

This thread is only for SMFBuy (the free version) not SMFBuy Pro that's why it is not mentioned in this thread and why there is a link to his site.

I use the pro version on one of my sites.  The author has always been very responsive to emails and very helpful and I've had no problems.

So let's cut the guy some slack as he may be busy like we all are from time to time.

i've left messages on his site (for the smf pro) both on the public board in private messages three times over the last couple of months. he doesn't respond.

i'm pretty familiar with having to hand-code some of the mods i install, but that's not the problem i was having. it wouldn't upload through the package manager on 1.1.8, it said the package i was trying to upload was corrupt or incompatible.

No worries.

I clicked on that link but it says it's off-limits to me.

All I can say is that he sends people to his site because that's where you get the pro version, not on this site, this is only the free version.

He was very helpful to me when I was setting mine up and I have no complaints.

Can anyone help to point out what I've done wrong?

I can't even get this to show up in a fresh install of 1.1.10. It installs without issue but even the main settings screen in blank.

Not a chance I will install this on my main forum.

Anyone else run into this as I would really like to install this.

Been wrestling with this all day, good idea but it has some problems I think, finally seems to be functioning correctly on a heavily modified 1.1.10 SMF install, but now I'm having difficulties with switching board permissions back and forth between "Global" and "Local" keep getting the following error:

I want the auctions to be available on only a single board but can't seem to figure it out...

Ya know, I am an experienced programmer, I just have no appreciable experience with PHP/MySQL. Some of you SMF module writers need to get it together with supporting your wares. I'm going to purchase this module pro version later but I'm not very impressed with it's support from the author.

I have a functioning version in SMF 2.0 RC1.2, but it is of the PRO model and not the free version.  I have tested it out on my forum with the BUY IT NOW, AUCTION, and COMBINED AUCTION/BUY IT NOW settings and it worked fine.  Unfortunately, I have not released the feature to my forum members, so there are no longer any examples of it working right now.  I need to write up a Terms Of Use in order to make sure no one decides they want me to pay for someone else not fulfilling their deals.  (Which is a good note for anyone who uses any type of mod like this.)

If there is a question that you have, I will be back Friday evening (in two days)

This is not a problem of SMFbuy.

Is there any other MOD installed that modify the files used by SMFbuy, the package manager produces errors or warnings. In this case you must manually install the mod.

No MOD can be written and guaranteed work on all the forums and with all combinations of MOD installed!

SMFbuy (free version) is guaranteed as only working on SMF 1.1.10 without any MOD installed.

For absurd, if I install a MOD, then the uninstall, if it is not written well, can leave dirt in your code ...

The PRO version is also developed for the current SMF 2.0. For more information

Is there any reason why this is only being developed for 1.x? How is a person using 2.x supposed to evaluate your mod if the only available version of it is the inaccessible until purchased PRO version?
Title: Re: SMFbuy
Post by: MonoTiz on August 06, 2009, 02:16:25 PM
Because the database function and tables of SMF 2.0 are different...

Write a MOD for SMF 1.1.x and 2.0 require more time.

Who uses SMF 2.0 simply can not install the base version.
Title: Re: SMFbuy

I still dont understand how you have a SMF 2.x compatible version only available upon purchase. How come there's not a "crippled" version like with the 1.x version?

Donating in "hopes" that the mod I'm purchasing is compatible with my current forum configuration can't be the only option. But I understand if that's what you desire.

ok ok

I do not understand your meaning of this
intervention. SMFbuy is available for free. When something is free
not too much to expect.

SMFbuyPRO is issued on a donation because it is more evolved and why I
I worked there for so long. Do not you ask $ 100. We ask a donation. You can also donate $ 1 and you have the PRO version.

I do not seem much to ask.

There's my site and test it for a mod to verify compatibility with version 2.0.

I fully accept that you wish to receive a donation for your work.

I know it works with YOUR site and probably the default SMF install. The inability to confirm that it will be compatible with MY site and it's current configuration, before said donation is made, is my issue.

But again, it's at your discretion, since it is your work. Which I again, totally accept.

We have had this installed(free version) for a really long time and it worked at one time when we tested it but I made a joke post including a buy and whenever someone actually attempts to do the purchase they get the following:

"An Error Has Occurred!" and they can only go back to the topic. I have tested this and the popup asking if you are sure about the purchase and so on but right after you confirm you get the message. This is what shows in the logs:

http://rejectsreststop.com/forum/index.php?action=smfbuy;sa=bid;topic=1679.0
Undefined index: cannot_smfbuy_offer
File: /home/rejectsr/public_html/forum/Sources/Errors.php
Line: 342

line 342 is:   fatal_error($txt[$error], $log);

Has anyone ever encountered his and possibly know how to fix it? I'm running 1.1.10 and version 1.2 of the mod. I have checked permissions for every group and everyone is allowed to both start and bid on items. I know I should update it to the newest version but I'm just dreading all those manual edits since it no longer has an uninstall option.

I am having the same problem.  I am interested in the Pro Version but want to test the free version to be sure this is exactly what I need.

I can access the "SMFBuy" link in Admin>Configuration> section but do not have the option in version 1.1.10 to change actual board permissions.  I can change the permissions for the Member groups globally just not board specific.

In a free version your must change the modifications.your language.php file

I just found out about this MOD.

For now, I only have one comment to a few of you folks who keep complaining about the price for PRO version.

The SMFClassified is not even listed here and the developer asks for $79 and you don't even get the option of getting refund IF the MOD doesn't work with your site!

http://www.smfhacks.com/smf-classifieds.php

UPDATE: I registered, made a small donation and was able to download the MOD. Installation went GREAT on my heavily modified forum with over 59 BEST MODs around! Configured a few options and things seem to be working SUPER! Not even a single error message. Very impressive.

FYI, you need to download and install this great MOD here too as SMFbuy can integrate with it: http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=346

RE small donation, I will certainly make more donations as the developer has done a very good job .... NOT to mention he's nice enough to allow people to donate what-ever they can as little as $3.00 (I'm in Canada :D).

MonoTiz, you are the best. Great job and thanks so much again for all your hard work.

Couple of suggestions to users based on my own experience:

1. If you have UltraProfile MOD installed, make sure you manually update it yourself. Or else, the Trader MOD / SMFbuy won't show the related info.

2. If you've installed the TEST version of SMFbuy, as per MonoTiz's instruction, uninstall it first. Also, if you have custom theme, do not copy and paste the codes from the TEST (BASIC) version from SMF site. There are quiet a few options that do not exist on the BASIC version.

That's all I have to share here :)

Hi MonoTiz,

I followed that link and posted a short comment too.

I also removed the line that you mentioned in that post in Profile.php and now members can see the SMFbuy links for other regular members no problem. But I don't know why regular members cannot see their own SMFbuy links in their own profile. Any suggestion please?

Everything else seems to be working very good so far.

Thanks.

Thanks.
Hi,

Don't feel sorry. :) I've been testing the MOD and it works very nice so far.

I noticed on your Forum, I have those links in my own profile but I don't see them on other members profiles.

In my forum, members don't see the links on their own profiles but can see them on others profiles! So I thought maybe I missed something. ADMIN is OK.

Anyway, thanks again :)

One last update: MonoTiz, you are the best. Thanks for your help fixing this issue ;)

To other folks: The PRO version is worth it. Be generous and get it. You won't regret your decision. If you read my other comments on other MODs, you'll know I'm not an easy person! So trust me when I say this MOD rocks. :D

I have spent nearly all day trying to get the crippled version to do anything, I would seriously suggest that this crippled version is taken off the site as most of the comments etc relate to the PRO version which is NOT available here.

I now see that you must have a fresh install of 1.1.10 to get it to work and there appears to be no guarantee that the PRO version will work with a heavily modded site ( like my own)

I do not support the PRO version on this forum.
Who contacts me about this forum, I tell him in private.

Since I am honest, and I tell you before the pro version may not work on your site, I put a "test mod" for testing.

Even if you like this, then no one forces you to upgrade to pro.

Regards.

Warning - while you were typing a new reply has been posted. You may wish to review your post.

@ Kreator
There is No guarantee that 'Any' mod will work 'out of the box' on a heavily modded site.
As with any mod, some edits may need to be manually made when another occupies the position it seeks.
The comments regarding the Pro version are users expressing their experience with it, and assist with other peoples 'decision making' to upgrade.
The other is an issue the author himself is seeking a solution to from the community(he provided a link to that thread).
Sorry, but your suggestion and 'personal' name for this mod and thread hold no real value, and only expresses your frustration with your own experience. imo
Assistance may always be here when needed, and if you create something similar that is a 'sure fire' guarantee to install onto any heavily modified site, then feel free to submit it.

Good luck :)

I tried the light version first on my TEST forum with the same exact number of MODs and took me less than one hour to get it to work, ie; that is to get ride of couple of small errors. As I said,  then I spent the 'min' amount to register and download the PRO version. It simply worked. And my forum is crazy with tons of MODs!

Less than 24 hours, I allowed my members to use it and I look like a hero to them! :D They love it.

As a token of my appreciation, I donated some more $ but I know it is NOT enough to thank MonoTiz for his hard work.

The author has spent a great deal of time coding this MOD and you can see that by simply looking at the number of lines! However, more important, it's the logic behind this beautiful MOD that makes it priceless.

The LIGTH version must stay here as a DEMO and once users are happy with it, I strongly suggest to register and get the PRO version to fully enjoy what this MOD has to offer.

FWIW, I am the most clueless Forum Admin in the universe! Go figure!

I have 50+ mods and had no errors installing.  The only thing that doesn't work, he is currently trying to get resolved as outlined above.

If you had failed tests when installing, you need to manually do the edits.  Also, it never hurts to go back and check the edits manually when something doesn't work.  I know there are a bit of edits here, but I do this process for all mods just to make certain everything took as it should have during the installation.  (and I have some pretty heavy edit intensive mods that I use on my site.)  If something doesn't work after I check the work, I reply nicely to the mod author for assistance in order to be respectful and because I know they deal with a lot of questions.

Thank you guys for your comments, But my statement regards SMFBuy still stands regards "SMFBuyPro". The thread should be about SMFBuy not SMFbuyPro.
I know Monotiz would prefer all questions regards SMFBuyPro were directed to his own site

Having to navigate through all these posts distracts from the original thread that was started regards SMFBuy especially when you are trying to enable the original mod downloaded, and need support/advice for it

SABRE:

I quite agree and have done all the manual edits and you will be pleased to learn that I have finally managed to get it working, after a second afternoon of verifying code!

You might be right regards the frustration part ! though I don`t understand your other comments..

reflecting on the virtues of SMFBuy though, I will get back later when the current test auction expires, whether I do opt to upgrade to SMFBuyPro

You must set the local permission for the board. Check the docs.

Please: consider the idea to upgrade to PRO version. <-- hmm...

so in other words, thrs three choice.  either downgrade the forum to use the free version, buy the pro version, or dont use it?  no one wud downgrade the forum, so either buy pro or dont use it.  that sucks... are u not going to upgrade the free one at all to be able to use the 2.0 rc 1.2 or any version after?

Hi
Have loaded smf bay lite, and it looks great. Unfortunately I have tried to bid under a different user name and it does not upgrade the current cost with the bid. The permissions are set to buy/bid active.
Any help would be appreciated.
You can look and try with the login I have setup to test by going to aussieherps.com
Login is : Ussername:ozianimals  Password: natasha

Thank You
Todd

Just uploaded the Version 1.0.1 and still the same. You can bid and then the price just stays set as the starting bid. It accepts the bid but does not update on the screen the amount. Still says the starting amount.

Suppose that user1 create a new listings with starting price is 10$.

If the user2 place 20$ as a bid, the current bid is 10$.

If the user3 place 15$ as a bid, the current bid becomes 15$ but the bidder is user2....

Current Price: 20.02 AUD
At least 20.03 AUD
Shipping: 75 AUD
Best bidder: ozianimals
Deadline:  March 03, 2010, 09:46:12 PM
