Title: phpBB to SMF
Post by: Weapon X on December 27, 2004, 05:31:52 PM
Oddness.............this is my second forum I converted and it looks like something went wacky this time, when I go to the admin Cpanel and look to edit the membergroups I get this error page:

"Not Acceptable
An appropriate representation of the requested resource /testforum/index.php could not be found on this server.

Apache/1.3.33 Server at www.theidiotsclub.com Port 80"

Seems like all else is fine except for this ??????  :-\

On thge posts all the groups and ranks show up but when I want to edit them ????

Any ideas what happened ?????

Nope.........I am gonna re-do everything........just incase.... :-\

I also just noticed on another forum that whenever I post......after I hit the "post" button it no longer takes me to the actual thread I posted at it now takes me to the "forum" the thread is in???? So I have to click the link to the thread again to see my post ??????
The post oddness just started today ??????
Before today........the forum worked fine..............any clue ????

FYI.......this forum does the same thing.........what's going on ????
Note: this happens on my computer both at home and at work...........what's with the oddness ????

Other observation.........I modified my original post from the "FYI" above and after I hit save.....it took me to me to the post.......so the oddness only happens on a new reply.................????

do you have a link to your SMF installation? How about phpinfo? What is phpinfo.php? (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=18250.0)

Well I went to my host with this problem and they of course said it is an issue with SMF.......... :D
I dialoged with support at my host via Support Tickets there and what they ended up doing was move our stuff to another server.
Now it works.
I asked him what the issue was and he said it had to do with security......from what I could tell and understand, we went from a server that had "this amount" of levels of security to one with 1 less level............that's all jibber jabber to me.........when I asked if we were now more suceptable to hackers his exact words were "There is a layer of security not in place on that server but there are several others that are."
Not too reassuring..............but what could I do???? You guys say it is them....they say it is you............ :o
At least it works...........keeping my fingers crossed............-X
