Title: Converting wrapped module to standalone
Post by: welltasty on February 25, 2008, 06:07:39 AM
Hi there,

My version of SMF is a module within Joomla- it appears as a wrapped item.

Could you tell me the steps to disengage it permanently with Joomla?

I want it to stand alone with the address 'mixtogether.org/forum' instead of 'itemid=50'.

I want the website and forum to run independently of each other.

Is there a way to find out within Joomla? It's Orstio's bridge but I don't know what version number.

if it is Orstio's bridge, then you can just uninstall the bridge.
com_smf
com_smf_registration
mod_smf_login
smf_header_include mambot
any other bridge modules

poof - you are now unbridged.

So then you have a standalone forum accesed from its own folder ie. 'mixtogether.org/forum'??

And all your members can still login as normal?

with Orstio's bridge, you always had the stand alone forum available... unless you added the redirect code to bounce users to the wrapped forum (in which case, you would need to edit smf's index.php to remove that redirect code)

Help!

I uninstalled all the SMF coms and mods as instructed above and now have lost access to my forum.

If my website is www.mixtogether.org, what suffix (/folder/xyz.php) do I need to see the forum???
