Otsikko: COPPA
Kirjoitti: darkusmaster - helmikuu 29, 2008, 08:50:57 AP
I was wondering how this applies to the forums.  It states that if we collect any informtaion for childeren under the age of 13 we have to have get parental concent.  Here is the link http://www.coppa.org/comply.htm  Now that even included email address if that is all you collect.  How does one make sure thier site is 100% compliant with that or if nothing more is done/taken does anything really need to be done or does every forum need this form?  I need to know thanks so much

On your forums, go to your admin panel, then to registrations (or whatever), and settings. There will be a section there regarding the COPPA law.

Here you can enable things so that registering asks for your date of birth, and those under 13 can't register (hence have their data collected).

Yes but what prevents them from lying about their age?

Nothing.  But theres truly nothing you can do about that, either.
