Hi everyone. I'm having kinda of dilema here, i first used a custom theme but i got 2 irritating problems :
1. I have TP, sometimes themes won't work for the TP
2. I love mods, but the ones i adore most like SMF links and SMF Gallery need some heavy editing
after heavy thinking, i switched to default theme just so those 2 mods could work....some members said they prefer the default look, but......
so my more experienced webmaster friends, i would like to kindly consult for your knowledge and experience about these :
1. do new members/guests see the default look as "unprofessional?" or "uninteresting" from your experience?
2. Do you guys think i should let go those 2 mods and return to the previous custom look? (I Used outline theme by dziner)
that's it, i just need webmasters' inputs. I kinda like the default look , just wanna be sure especially about getting new members.
thanks guys, appreciate it alot!
Theres an easy solution.
1. Install all the mods you want onto the default theme.
2. Then once you've got them all installed. Then set about designing your own custom theme based on the default theme.
Things should hopefully be even easier still with the forthcoming release of smf 2.0 which should attempt to install mods onto all themes, however there maybe a need to still do some manual edits.
thanks for replying karlbenson. i love your mods btw, got almost all them i guess in my site.
yea i was thinking about doing just that karl, what's the easy way of doing that? changing the files like the catbg, logo, colours, etc?
that's probably the easiest way.
Look into style.css
the Graphics and Templates (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?board=34.0) board is also a good resource
