Otsikko: user unbans themselves
Kirjoitti: GATTACA - maaliskuu 16, 2008, 10:40:42 AP
we have put a ban on a user who seems to be able to remove the ban themselves. Is there a backdoor or username that is allowing this? I have had the mods change their passwords, I also know who the mods are and it is not the user.

Any ideas?

Are you sure the ban has triggers assigned to it? One of the most common oversights is creating a ban but forgetting to check the boxes to add triggers for it.

I tried three different ones,

One on IP, though I knew this would not work as he/she was using an anonymizer ip

One was on UserName

One was on Email address, though this didn't seem to work properly as it was asking for the part after the @. I eventually settled on the username.

the user then came on and posted a comment asking why he was banned, and when I went back to check his ban it had been de-activated. Just wondering how.

We are a very new forum and so have only had need to ban about 9 people from posting defamatory information, but all the other bans worked.

what was the ban rule and trigger you used?

what version of SMF are you using?

what was the IP address of the post that they made?

check to see if you have any extra admin users you dont know about..

you probably have some other mod or software that creates a backdoor to your forum.

what mods or extensions /other software do you have installed?
