Otsikko: Google sitting on my site
Kirjoitti: tangotemper - maaliskuu 17, 2008, 07:34:02 AP
Is this normal?  They've been there as a guest for several hours now and when I check on what they're doing, the message says "unknown action".  They were previously registering as a guest for nearly half an hour, until the new activity showed up.

As you have probably guessed, I'm a complete newbie to this sort of thing, and I'm not really sure if they're just indexing my site or something else is happening.

Thanks in advance.

You can do an IP lookup to see what they are http://www.ip2location.com/free.asp

Normally it is just a search engine spider.

I love me some engine spiders! Increase traffics and such. It is totally normal.

Thanks for that troops - I was pretty nervous.  The forum IP function gave the address as belonging to Google.  Given that the forum has only been up for 2 days  I was pretty nervous at the fact that this guest didn't register after 30 minutes and then was up to an unknown action.  For some reason, I imagined that spideys would check you out in a matter of seconds then depart, as opposed to sitting on the site for several hours!  Lordy, it only took an hour or so to put the forum together!
