Title: Joining membergroups AND notifications...
Post by: Jim R on March 23, 2008, 01:16:28 PM
I apologize if this isn't the right place to put this, as I know most people, including myself, are still working with upgrade issues to maintain functionality.

My questions are related:

1)  Is it possible to allow only people in certain membergroups to join other membergroups?  In other words, I have a subscription base with my site, and I use SMF to control a lot of its functionality.  I love the users can join membergroups whenever they want.  It would be nice if I only allowed that option to subscribers instead of just anyone for the purposes of newsletter lists.

2)  On that note, could it be possible to make it so whenever a new post is posted on certain boards that notification goes out to those in certain membergroups?

Maybe these should be mod requests.

Well, if you put the subscribers into a group upon subscription, then you could give only that group the permission to change groups.

As for number 2, I have no clue :( sorry.
