Copy the files in one place. Paste them in the other. XD
i did that one time i got an error
copy the files to the new directory.
THEN upload repair_settings.php (from the downloads on this site) to your new forum root folder and access it directly by url ie hxxp://example.com/forum/repair_settings.php
follow the instructions for adjusting the settings to account for the forum move then remove repair_settings.php and your forum should be running in its new location.
(some mods have there own settings that may need adjusting in their admin control panel)
