These themes are great Mystica! They are done with love to the detail - even with many new icons.

Great themes. :)

I noticed one thing though...the "loonblue" (haven't checked the others) theme are in a folder inside the archive -> loonblue.zip has "loonblue/images.." for instance. When installing themes in the admin section that will make two "loonblue" folders... one made by SMF and one inside that again - coming from the archive itself.

Doing it manually is no problem of course.

oops, didn't know that (never installed a theme from a zip file). should be fixed now! thanks for letting me know!

(turquiose theme languages in this post since it didn't want to upload them to the first one)

Thanks for making them.

Just one question, we can't see news with this theme?
I can set the news, but I don't see them anywhere...
Perhaps we can add it like in the Yabb Se Default theme.
I'm not good enough to don't make a mistake with that  ;)
Title: Re: [Theme] Loon Themes for SMF 1.0
Post by: Mystica on January 07, 2005, 10:21:30 AM
i didn't include the news in this theme since the forum i made this theme for only uses the news fader. the fader should work fine, if you want to use the normal news items instead, this is what you could do:
open index.template.php
find this:

echo '
</td></tr></table>
</div>

</td>
<td width="440" style="padding-left: 5px;" valign="top">';

and replace with:

echo '
</td></tr>';

if (!empty($settings['enable_news']))
echo '
<tr>
<td colspan="2" height="24" style="padding-left: 1ex;">
<b>', $txt[102], ':</b> ', $context['random_news_line'], '
</td>
</tr>
</table>
</div>
</td>
<td width="440" style="padding-left: 5px;" valign="top">';

the news should then be displayed under the user info stuff.

Post by: Oldiesmann on January 07, 2005, 11:35:24 AM
Mystica - you need to do it like this so it won't look "funky" if the news isn't enabled :)

echo '
</td></tr>';

if (!empty($settings['enable_news']))
echo '
<tr>
<td colspan="2" height="24" style="padding-left: 1ex;">
<b>', $txt[102], ':</b> ', $context['random_news_line'], '
</td>
</tr>'; // "If" statement should end here, not at the end of this chunk of code
//Always output this stuff
echo '</table>
</div>
</td>
<td width="440" style="padding-left: 5px;" valign="top">';

Is there a way to remove everythign from the top portion and only leave the menu?  I am imbeding the forum in a mambo board and all user info will be ont he side, So i don't need the logo or the user info at the top of the board.

thanks,
steve k.

These are great.. Is there anyway that for at least the purple theme we could get the two square's modified some to sorta tell the difference between the new and old post's. They are a little to close in colour and hard to tell.

If not that's ok. I love the theme's anyway.

Ok.... what did I do wrong? I uploaded loonblue and now the bottom of my forum says

Sorry, the copyright must be in the template.
Please notify this forum's administrator that this site is using an ILLEGAL copy of SMF!

I didn't remove any copyrights, I don't know how to fix this. ???

No, I downloaded 1.0.1 yesterday, it was a fresh install.
I'll probably need to delete and start over, I realised what may have gone wrong.
Earlier in the day I had uploaded a perl script to another server and I had my ftp client set to ascii and forgot to turn it back to auto
So initially I had uploaded the forum and the skin all in ascii. Then when I realised my mistake (which I realised when I saw the messed up graphics), I reuploaded but I overwrote the files when I probably should have deleted them first and then uploaded them fresh.
So anyhow, I'll go delete and start over and hope it works this time. ;)

Mystica--

Beautiful work! I have installed the peach theme, and it looks great--however, I am trying to get our logo banner centered at the top of the page, above the user info box, and I can't quite figure out how to do it. I have figured out how to replace the SMF logo, but it's still sitting on the right of the user panel.

I'm fairly new to coding, and while I was able to get the banner positioned correctly with the default theme thanks to some tips here, I can't find the same coding in the index.template.php file that came with loon.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks--and thanks again for the great theme!

delete this code, starting from line 218:

<td width="440" style="padding-left: 5px;" valign="top">';

echo '
<div class="headerbodies" style="border:0px; width: 440px; position: relative;">
<img src="', $settings['images_url'], '/logo.jpg" width="440" alt="" />
</div>
</td>

and add this:

<div style="text-align: center; margin: auto;">
<img src="', $settings['images_url'], '/logo.jpg" width="440" alt="" /><br />
</div>

in line 141, right before

<tr id="upshrinkHeader"', empty($options['collapse_header']) ? '' : ' style="display: none;"', '

that should do the trick. didn't test it though as i'm pretty busy currently. let me know if it works :)

I have tryed index template. and style.css file.  it is loading but not showing up you can see it if you view backgroung image???

any ideas ??? thanks for the help joey
Title: Re: [Theme] Loon Themes for SMF 1.0.x

In the style.css, look for .back2 (should be at the end of the file) and try this:

.back2
{
   background-image:url(images/background.jpg);
}

The background image should be located in the images folder of the theme. This would make the background image appear in the middle area of the forum, if you want the header and footer with the same image, also change the .back1 class or open index.template.php and replace .back1 with .back2.

Thank you Mystica for this beautiful theme. I'm using different colors of 'loon' on several forums.
You'll be proud of the one I started in support of a girl who was badly burned recently.
The link is below. :)

Could you help with a problem I am having with it. I'm having a problem filling the very bottom of the Logo Box...

How can I get rid of the tiny empty line, at the bottom, inside the bordered logo frame?

Making the image taller doesn't fix it. It shows up on your Theme Demo, and you can see the same problem on my forum here, especially under her photo...
http://ourcountryhaven.com/april/index.php

This offset is set by IE´s renderer. You have to kill this offset with correct css.

Btw: IE in opposite of other Browser renders images in a way so that blank images doenst destroy the layout of a site, during gecko is removing the element from the object tree (very bad behaviour, even with ajax, where we want to different between remove and hide elements or objects) ...

The forum looks really good :)
You could try fixing the render problem with changing the classes in index.template.php. The div that contains the logo has the class "headerbodies", delete the class from the div and add it to the img, that should fix it.

I'm so sorry, Mystica, but I'm so new to all this stuff,
and I'm stumbling a lot. Old age will do that to ya.

I've done a little with the index.template, but I don't
understand about the classes and how to put it in the
img.

Getting this straight will help me fix three SMF boards.
I have the one I mentioned, plus a workboard and as
of the wee hours this morning, my tech support and I
converted my big board over... flawlessly. I AM THRILLED.

I'll try to pick it up quickly if you'll please help me understand
what I need to do.

Many thanks.

Mediman: Thank you for sharing that, but I wouldn't have
a clue as to what to do about it in CSS. Thanks anyway. :D

Everyone is starting at some point ;) The code should be on line 229 in index.template.php. Change this:

<div class="headerbodies" style="border:0px; width: 440px; position: relative;">
<img src="', $settings['images_url'], '/logo.jpg" width="440" alt="" />

to this:

<div style="border:0px; width: 440px; position: relative;">
<img src="', $settings['images_url'], '/logo.jpg" class="headerbodies" width="440" alt="" />

This should fix the render problem.

WooooRaaaay... It worked like a charm.

Thank you very much, Mystica.

Now I'm getting brave... :) Is there any way I can put a Menu Bar* in the 'below' section of the template to save on scrolling up and down?

*By Menu Bar I mean the one with "Home, Help, Search, Admin, Profile, Calendar, Logout" OR a straight line version of the location 'tree', plus an ADMIN link.

Thanks for sharing your wonderful creativity. :D

You could easily add a copy of the menu bar at the bottom of the forum, right above (or even below) the copyright. Just try using template_menu(); wherever you want to place the second menu bar. Somewhere around line 260 would probably be best.

Wow... That's neat, AND it helps me see how the 'code system' works.

I've added a couple of things there already, so I know where you're talking about.
It really is exciting to keep learning. You 'youngsters' are a smart bunch, and I'm grateful for your help.

Thanks so much.

I'm so glad I found these themes - they're perfect for my board!

I'm hoping someone could help me with one change.  I've changed the smf logo to my own, and like the existing layout except that I'd like to add a picture somewhere up top, preferably under the box that contains the User Info.  I'd like the image box to be the same size as the info box so that everything will look property aligned.

I'm guessing this is done by editing the template, but need help on what code to add (I've had more than my share of parse errors during the learning process!)

Many thanks - and again, great job on the templates!

SMF 1.0.5

in index.template.php, find this code:
<div class="headerbodies" style="width: 440px; position: relative;">
<img src="', $settings['images_url'], '/logo.jpg" width="440" alt="" />
</div>
</td>
</tr>

and replace with:

<div class="headerbodies" style="width: 440px; position: relative;">
<img src="', $settings['images_url'], '/logo.jpg" width="440" alt="" />
</div>
</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td valign="top">
<div class="headerbodies"><img src="path to image" alt="" /><div/>
</td>
<td> </td>
</tr>

Class and style of the second div might have to be altered a bit, but it should work like this.

The "post an event" icon is "poster un eventement" in French, but it should be "poster un événement".

I don't know for the other colors since I only use the green one.

I'm using this beautiful theme and loving it.

ADDED: This request for assistance involved SMF ver 1.6

One problem I have is the smileys on the "More" page are strung out in a long line, rather than breaking automatically at the width of the screen. Is there some way I can remedy this?

Thanks in advance for speaking slowly.  ;D

I am noticing that all of the themes say Simple Machines in big letters on the header and that's all great and lovely that we are so proud of SMF but I'd like my forums name to be there instead.
Can someone please tell me how to change that? I havent been able to figure it out so...help!?!?!?!
