Title: Why can guests view their own profile?
Post by: shentino on March 25, 2008, 03:37:14 PM
I was just exploring in the general permissions area for the "guest" group and found an option to allow or disallow viewing of their own profile.

I didn't even know a guest HAD a profile...

Could someone explain what this option prevents or permits?  I'm confused...

I am not completely sure, but probably if you allow them to post, they can see the posts from there IP or something of that nature...

Guests don't actually have a profile, so that option doesn't have any effect.

That's what I was thinking.

If the option doesn't have any effect, why is it even there in the first place?

Probably because someone forgot to add that permission to the list of permissions that guests can't have (yes, there is such a list).
