Title: Lite or Text Only Version of the Forum?
Post by: FMSUser on March 28, 2008, 01:27:50 PM
Hi,

Is it possible to view a lite or text-only version of the forum, so users on very slow connections/using mobile browsers can view the site quickly?

Best regards,
FMSUser.

If they're browsing from a mobile browser (eg the built-in phone browser, not a third-party browser like Opera Mini), SMF should automatically send them to the "wap2" version.

Yeah there are 3 version for different mobiles depending on what they can handle.

http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?wap
http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?wap2
http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?imode.

And also depending on the internet speed the mobile is capable.
For example Apple Iphone uses 2G slow internet, so its better for less.
While some others use 3G internet and so can do superfast.

Hi,

I don't think it did. I'm re-testing now.

Best regards,

Hey fellas, not trying to hijack, but I noticied when I'm viewing my wap2 home page, I don't have any nav links (home, forum, help, search, etc) so it's not terribly useful.  I can't figure out how to navigate to boards not represented by posts I have on the home screen at that moment.  Anyone have the same problem?  Any ideas?

Do you have TinyPortal installed? If I remember correctly, TP doesn't display any navigation links on the main page in Wap2 for some reason. To get around this, just go to .../index.php?action=forum;wap2 for now.

Perfect.  That's exactly it.  Thanks again, Oldiesmann!
