Post by: SpikeHome on January 05, 2005, 05:41:22 AM
Hi ppl,

with converting phpbb board (version 2.011) and attachment mod (version 2.3.11) i got the following error.

Notice: Undefined variable: converting_name in /var/www/html/forums/phpbb2_to_smf.php on line 2787
installation.

Seems all files is converted to smf to the attachments dir.

That line looks OK in the version of the converter that's available for download.

Anyway if you reached line 2787 you've finished the conversion and it's just about to tell you that you can log in, so your attachments should all be across in SMF now.

not fixed.

Because in the converted posts are the attachments gone.
Perhaps a setting??
converted ppl have rights to see/add attachments.

Have you clicked on a member, and gone to "Show Permissions" in their profile, to make sure they have that permission?

Sorry, I was unclear.  I meant, can you try clicking on the "admin" button on the menu bar, and from there going to the "Manage Attachments" option?  From there, you should see all the attachments and avatars the forum knows about.

If they did not import properly, you should not see them, or at least some of them.

Hmm... okay.  I would assume it didn't convert the attachments at all...

Can you try the attached file?  It should do the attachments only.

at the server in smf/attachments they appear to be there.
I can also attach the file again to the post.
but the file comes 2 times at the server one new and the old converted one.

note, the size of attachments are converted about 400mb.

Yes, but for some reason they aren't finding their way into the attachments table - right?  Do you know how to use phpMyAdmin? (or what it is...?)

Here's what I'm saying:

The files may or may not be in the "attachments" directory, but if they are not in the *DATABASE*, they might as well not exist.  If you could check your attachments table, I'd like to know if it's empty - it probably is.

The converter I attached is a trimmed down version, which should show much more in the way of error messages when converting the attachments.  Did you try it?

The files are in the attachments directory, but not in the database.
phpbb trimmed down i did not try yet.
But i thinking to manual add all attachements.
When i trim down the version what version?? for phpbb and the attachment_mod?

Time is this week some less.

I attached the trimmed down version earlier in this topic... here:

Manually adding the attachments may work for smaller forums, but I'm hoping it can be more painless.

Sorry for having trouble misunderstanding you.
