What programming language(s) does SMF Forum Software uses? I would like to learn all those languages that I can use to make my own forum software and websites like Facebook. I would like to make a forum software and then give it to SMF ... please help

SMF is already a successful forum software.
Unfortunately if you are asking what languages SMF is written in then you probably won't be successful building a large scale application like facebook. The amount of work that has to be put into the security side is huge. You make one mistake and hackers will find it. The reason SMF has been soo successful has been from their keeping it simple and security first approach.
If you are serious about this you should start off building small scale applications. There are numerous ways to lay out the foundation for an application and if you don't get it right then you'll have one hell of a time later on.
The best way to learn is through trial and error. Look at others code, see where they excelled and the section that could've been improved on.
Doing mods for SMF is a good way to start learning PHP.
Theres alot of free tutorals/information out there on PHP.

Actually I'd start on simpler hello worlds since SMF has template system it makes it harder to use.

Well everyone starts from bottom. But yes, you should start from simpler things.
Man the very first thing you need to do is learn HTML...Then javascript, then php and them mysql....few years and you're done :D
Developing something useful is definitely the best way to learn technical skills, it gives a sense of purpose. But why on earth set about developing a forum, when products like SMF with hundreds of man years of effort are available for free? If I were you I'd start with an SMF forum and develop your skills by tailoring it and creating mods.
