Otsikko: What version?
Kirjoitti: TheWrath! - huhtikuu 17, 2008, 03:01:09 IP
I am planning on creating a forum for a church and for college students who go to my college (well a group of us) for us to stay in contact with everyone once we have graduated from college and what not. Several of us are leaving the school in the next physical year or so by graduating or going to a different college/university.

My question is what version should I use of SMF? 11.4 or 2.0 Public Beta 3

I know 2.0 Beta 3 is now recommended to be used on a live developing site. I guess I have another question which is how soon would it be for 2.0 to be recommended to be used on a live site?

Thank you

TW!

To be honest, Beta 3 is pretty stable, if you don't mind getting your hands dirty then use that.

Currently are there any security concerns that should be dealt with before someone would use beta 3?

Nope.
Although you'll find less mods/themes for SMF 2b3p when compared to SMF 1.1.4

they wouldnt have released it as public beta if there were, still there may be issues (but not concerns)
just install 1.14 and get up and running... in a few months,(give or take a year), your forum will be established and 2.0 will be certified
