Title: Question on Mambo/SMF w/ PHPBB conversion.
Post by: shockeye on January 08, 2005, 07:25:21 PM
I am looking to convert a large phpBB2 forum to SMF but have that SMF bridged to Mambo. Do I install Mambo, SMF, bridge, and then run the conversion or do I convert before installing the bridge?

It shouldn't matter in which order you do the conversion.  The bridge should not interfere.

I think it is best to convert to SMF before installing the bridge since they are 2 different scripts.

I have just converted a large partyforum (2200+ members, 21500+ posts) from PHPBB2/Gallery to Mambo/SMF/Zoom/CPB

Only pity I find is that all users have a mambo ID a CPB user_id and a SMF ID_MEMBER.
The users do not notice but still like things more integrated, since now (without their knowledge) they are logging into 2 systems separately, trying to get CPB and SMF profiles integrated. That would be nice ;)
