Title: YABB SE -> SMF
Post by: Sx on January 10, 2005, 09:35:54 AM
hi All,

I've been reading the threads in this forum, but still I'm rather puzzled.  Is it true that the only sollution to convert is by upgrading yabbSE to SMF ?

The problem is ... I only have my msysql database left as my domain has moved to another server.

Is the only sollution to install yabbSE again on the new server, with my old database, and after that just upgrade ?
Or is there an official converter since the release of SMF ?

Thank you for your help

The "official" converter is to use the "Upgrade" package from the downloads page.
Delete all YaBB SE files except:
Avatars
Attachments
template.php and YaBBImages (if you have a custom theme)
Settings.php

Then, upload all the files from the SMF package to your server and follow the instructions found at http://www.simplemachines.org/community/readme_upgrade.html

SMF will completely "replace" your YaBB SE install - it will convert the database and everything. If you've got a custom theme, it will get converted in the process.

I see.  Thank you for this information.
so I can delete all files except those mentioned BEFORE uploading the upgrade package ?

In that case I need to install phpSE back and re-upload the mysql database that goes with it.

thanks again for your help.
