Title: Permissions question
Post by: Prosperous on May 16, 2008, 12:02:51 PM
Hey there everyone. I am currently having a little bit of trouble regarding setting up permissions for the Guest group. What I want to achieve is this; allow Guests to view, post new topics and posts in particular boards, however ONLY have the ability to view other boards in another category. How can I set this up without any troubles?

To simplify:

www.forum.thefreezing.com

When you visit as a Guest, you should be able to see three categories ('Welcome Guest!', 'Administrative' and 'Community') and there should be a total of 12 boards. I have set up all groups to only be able to read the first category and first board, and I have allowed posting of posts and topics in the 'Public Board' and 'Pre-Sales Questions' board, but I don't want them to have the ability to post posts or topics in the other boards (just read them only). How can I set this up?

Thanks a lot all! 8)

Go into admin and then member groups and edit what each one can do and see on the forum.

The group 'Guest' isn't listed on the page 'Membergroups'... ::)

If I edit the permissions like that, which I've done and tried figuring out a couple of times, it works for all forums, not specific ones. If I edit permissions via the 'Board Permissions' page, then I can only change it for ALL members, not just Guests.

Do I have to set up a customised permission set?

I've figured it out. I had to create a whole different permission profile. Everything has been set up and is successfully working. Thanks for your help anyway nightbre and [n3rve], I appreciate it. ;D
