Title: Moving smf2.x between servers (localhost - domain)
Post by: flinders on May 23, 2008, 12:50:34 AM
Hi I am trying to move a demo install of smf 2.0 beta 3 off my localhost onto a domain so I can show it to someone else.

It will not move in the same (easy) way that Smf 1.x did. Everytime something fails, it redirects to my localhost or you can't log in.

Is there a set procedure developed for moving smf 2.0 beta 3 between servers and domains?

Cheers

Dave

Well I would have pointed you to the Repair Settings tool, but I don't think the current public version addresses all the changes needed for SMF 2.*

But check to ensure your Cache URL via your ACP.  But you might want to run the repair_settings.php (http://docs.simplemachines.org/index.php?topic=663) and see if fixed most other path issues.

OK I've gotten an 'in test phase' version of the repair settings tool that should work better with SMF 2.* BETA.  Please find it attached.
