Using SMF 1.1.5
Could someone please help me? I am not a trained webmaster or one by choice. We are having a number of problems with pages disappearing. Examples:
http://www.hobb.org/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,487/topic,1435.0/ (http://www.hobb.org/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,487/topic,1435.0/)

http://www.hobb.org/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,487/topic,1413.0/ (http://www.hobb.org/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,487/topic,1413.0/)
http://www.hobb.org/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,487/topic,1382.0/ (http://www.hobb.org/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,487/topic,1382.0/)
Other posts just disappeared as well. I also noticed it seems to be those with 12 - 13 or more responses. Is there anyone that can help.
One other question, is there anyway to tell if someone or who could have gotten into our site and caused this?
Please tell me these pages and posts can be restored. This is scary
Thank you,
Go to your admin area and check the forum moderation log. That will tell you who is doing it if you have the log enabled.
If you have the recycle bin enabled you should be able to get the pages back.
All of those links you provided all show topics. I don't see any problems.

Are you saying you can see the posts? I see only a blank page.

I went into the admin area and I don't see the moderation log. I don't know if the recycle bin ia enabled or not. I can't find it either.
I feel so dumb
Hmm, something odd could be on your end because I see the threads on the links you posted as well.
Have you tried logging out and clearing your cache and cookies and trying again?

I think you are right. Someone had me download Mozella Firefox and I can see the posts. Then someone suggested that I download JAVA to fix Internet Explorer, but that didn't work either.

Yes I tried that as well.
Could it be that I responded to a notice of a reply and clicked the unsubscribe link?
I don't think it would have anything to do with the unsubscribe link. I see it fine in IE6 with no issues either. It has to be something on your end. If you view the source of the page, is it all there, it just doesn't display? How about if you just log out and try and view as a guest?

If I am loged in I can't see it. If I am not loged in I can view it.
Sounds like you have a permission issue somewhere then, either in Joomla or in SMF. The next step would be to create a test account on your site and login with that to see if it affects normal users or just users with more privileges (i'm assuming you're an admin here).

SlammedDime: Thaks for the help. I will try that, but I think we have other problems:
In the meantime I have received several comments from others who post on the site.
1. "BTW, I just tried to post a comment in the Lennar forum and when I clicked submit it said "Error--hacking attempt." I hate hackers. They should be shot. I hope that this one works."
2. "Ron said I was missing JAVA. I still can't get the first page of the thread. I clicked on page 2 (tx. Supreme court culls) Was able to get Ray's comment but I did get that hacking notice again when I clicked. I am going into school this morning and I will see if it happens there and will let you know."
3. "I found something interesting. When I first tried to post "Who's minding the store?" in
HOBB Community > Interact by Region > Talk with others in your state > South Carolina > Who is minding the store?
I got the "hacking attempt" error message.
When I changed it to "Who is minding the store?" ("Who is" instead of "Who's") it posted.
When I try to change it back again to "Who's", I get the "hacking attempt" error message.
needless to say, something is screwed up."
I really appreciate any help.
Thanks a million.
See if any of this happens on your stand alone forum (not wrapped in Joomla). If not, then I think these are all issues with the JoomlaHacks bridge, and you should ask for support on their support forums.
Can someone please help? I am the Administrator of our site, HOBB.org
I am still having problems with not being able to see pages on our forum.
http://www.hobb.org/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,487/ (http://www.hobb.org/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,487/)
When I am logged in I can only read the discussions if they are less than 10 responses posted. When I am logged out I can read all posts.
Does anyone know how to correct this problem?
Did you not try my suggestion right above your last post?
Go here: http://www.hobb.org/forum/
And see if you can see everything then. If you can, then the issue is with your bridge and you'll need to ask the folks at Joomla Hacks what the issue is.
If you can't, then we can figure out what in SMF is causing the problem.
First I was the only one having problems and now others are getting a blank page.
This is a response from one of our members:
"Okay, I was able to view it in Fire Fox, but not IE 7. I always used IE 7 on the previous visits, so why did the thread come up as blank for me?"
What would cause this? Can it be fixed?
One other thing is creating a new registration is slow to respond. When I finally got a confirmation and tried to login it gave me a notice that the username didn't exist.
Thanks for your help.
Will you please answer my post that I've posted TWICE now? Thank you.
I tried to post something at JoomlaHacks bridge.
http://www.joomlahacks.com/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,94/action,profile/u,158632/sa,showPosts (http://www.joomlahacks.com/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,94/action,profile/u,158632/sa,showPosts)
I have not yet heard anything back. I don't know if I did it right or not.
Thanks
You still haven't answered my question/suggestion...

I am sorry but I don't know what this means.
"See if any of this happens on your stand alone forum (not wrapped in Joomla)." As you can tell I'm really confused.

Your stand alone forum is not linked with joomla. click this link http://www.hobb.org/forum/ and tell us if you can see the pages.
If you can, then I have to agree with slammeddime. It looks like a problem with the bridge.
For example all the links you supplied direct links, without the Joomla bridge:
http://www.hobb.org/forum/index.php?topic=1435.0
http://www.hobb.org/forum/index.php?topic=1308.0
http://www.hobb.org/forum/index.php?topic=1419.0

Can you access them okay? Also using alternate browsers? How did you go? I notice you are running 1.1.5, did you upgrade recently from a previous version. What was the previous version when things were working? I wasn't aware that the Joomla bridge works with the latest versions of SMF.
I am sorry I don't know what version was previously used. I am afraid I don't understand Joomla bridge either. How can I get someone to help me fix it or understand in simple terms what to do? I saw where someone changed a number to 8 that fixed what seemed to be a similar problem. I had the impression that it was an ability to limit the number of comments listed on each page. However, I looked all over and couldn't figure it out either.
My abilities are obviously limited. I can post articles and edit site but this is over my head.
Well firstly SlammedDime and myself are trying to test if it is indeed the Joomla bridge or SMF, thus the posts we've made (and which you seem to either ignore, done follow or don't understand) were meant to test the stand alone portion of SMF.
Did you get the same blank screen, missing posts when you access the links to the threads I posted? Now did you perform the upgrade of your forum to 1.1.5? If not ask the person who did what version of SMF was before the current version, was it working before this upgrade?
Rumbaar & SlammedDime:
I think I now understand what "Stand Alone" means. When I click on the links you mentioned it does not show the HOBB.org page, it only shows the Forum. But I don't know how you do that.
Links you supplied:

However, when I go on the HOBB.org site that same page is blank for me and others

I am sorry for my limited ability to understand. Thanks a million for your help.
Janet
The fact you can see them when you are accessing the threads without the Joomla bridge (wrap) would indicate an issue with your Joomla portion of your site. Either coding issue or configuration.
We really don't support Joomla anymore, but I'll move this to the appropriate section. Like I've said as support for Joomla bridge was end a while ago, I'm not sure of the implications of using the latest 1.1.5 version of SMF with the current version of the Joomla bridge.
It is most likely a combination of incompatibilities between SEF, the joomlahacks integration, and SMF 1.1.5.
I would normally tell you to go to joomlahacks.com for support, but I'm not sure that site even exists anymore.
Rumbaar, SlammedDime & Orstio:

The upgrade was done by the host for our site EsoSoft, . I was having trouble myself, but no complaints from others before EsoSoft did the upgrade.

JH has sever problems. This happens quit often. But about the Support there are no more Developers (-Wolverine) and Moderators (Livebox) active on the site since June 2007.
Think this is one off the main reasons that JH users asking for support on the SMF forums.
