I'm not getting a password reminder email to my own forum. I've tried both username and email address, it says email sent but I never get an email.
It's not in my spam box either...
Is there an error log I can check?
For error log goto:
Admin - Forum Error Log
You should look at your Email Settings, check and see if everything is correct.
Admin - Server Settings - Feature Configuration
---DEFAULT SETTINGS--
Mail Type: PHP
SMTP Server: "empty"
SMTP Port: 25
SMTP username: "empty"
SMTP password: "empty"
'empty" = Really Empty, nothing there
may be your server doesn't supply sending mail.
I don't see anything out of the ordinary in my error logs.
Settings appear correct.
Is there another log besides the SMF error log where I could trace what's going on in the background? I'm still not getting my own password reminder emails.
In reference to this thread, what if the php.ini file is not setup right with the correct email information?
I am having an email problem too and I know that my php.ini was not setup right with it. Not sure if my problem has been solved yet... will check back.
*edit*
editing my php.ini did the trick; i had to make sure the right smtp server and sendmail from address was in there. and changing the above to what lordtron suggested worked for me.
I should mention that I did a global announcement of a topic inside SMF, and I *did* receive an email. My SMF is a bridged Joomla installation, using Orstio's bridge.
I had no problems using Joomla to do mass mailings, so this problem is a bit strange and I don't know how to pinpoint the cause.
