My site www.kleinverzet.utwente.nl (http://www.kleinverzet.utwente.nl)

Based on:
Mambo + SMF (unwrapped) + Gallery (wrapped) + DOCman + Events

Lay-out has to be reworked in order to get all components (Gallery and SMF) wrapped properly in Mambo. Untill then, SMF stays unwrapped.

Our test site: http://test.opencopy.org now features the following:

Mambo 4.5.1b + SMF 1.0.1(integrated). + Bridge 2.2 + discussbot

I have "greyed-out" the default template and had to make some modifications to some of the template source to suit the integration.  Your comments would be greatly appreciated (you can post comments directly to the forum at http://test.opencopy.org - public posting is enabled there).

I m using kindred WinterLoon theme pack for mambo & smf.

Production site now successfully implemented with Mambo 4.5.2.1, SMF 1.0.2 and bridge 3.02. All minor problems solved thanks to Orstio, Kindred and others...

I've got a hardware news & reviews site - BCCHardware (http://www.benscustomcases.com) We are currently running Mambo 4.5.2.1 and SMF 1.0.2, and the latest bridge from Orstio.  The forum is wrapped, but can be viewed separately at www.benscustomcases.com/forum.  We have also incorporated the "gallery" in our reviews.  Currently there is a issue in IE, where the login username and password filed in the login module "break out" of the module.  We are working on fixing this bit of code.  In Firefox it looks fine.

My relatively new site uses Mambo 4.5.2, bridged with SMF 1.0.3 (wrapped).
Now using Joomla 1.0.5, bridged with SMF 1.1 RC2 (wrapped) using the Orstio 3.20 bridge.

You can see it at http://www.cache-community.co.uk.

There are still a few bugs I need to iron out, which is taking me a long time as I only really know a little HTML (no php), although hopefully most of these will be sorted when SMF 1.1 goes public (I can't wait!).

Mambo 4.5.2.3
SMF 1.0.4
Bridge mos_smf 3.17

Our site has been around for a long time, nearly ten years now.  We switched to Mambo about 14 months ago and it was a great improvement.  Our first forum/interactive galleries were Agora.  From there, we went to phpBB.  Then when we went to Mambo, we also transitionned to Simpleboard forum.

Simpleboard proved to be taxed beyond it's abilities with 2,500++ users, of which 1,500 visit daily.  The fora/galleries are really meant for our members to exchange, post and discuss photos of their bonsai trees.  Thanks to everyone who help with converting our 15,000 posts from simpleboard to SMF :)

We had a bit of a facelift for the mambo template as we went to the SMF forum.  We're quite happy with the (wrapped) integration.  That was actually a breeze.  We were really worried before hand about making it happen, but quite frankly, the only glitches we encountered had to do with converting posts :)

Comments very much welcome :)

I have a few kewl things installed as well as some new _coms.
*Flash chat
*Hot or Not
*Noah's Classifieds 1.3 ( now works with SMF & the bridge, if you need a Classified _com, this is the one)
* Lastest Referrers
*Arcade (though now that I have SMF RC2, I'll switch over to its arcade , as its better than joomla's )

The funny thing is the install went quick (10 minutes) and relatively smoothly, on my live site, but it took me 4+ hours to try to intall it on my test site. For some reason the old ver. wouldn't un-install and the installed failed over and over. I even went into myadmin and manually deleted it.

You might want to tweak the SMF theme a bit as your next step. You can safely remove some of the info boxes at the top of the SMF theme since they will be duplicated in the left menu using the bridge. That's what I do on my site.

Everything looks great... Except... On the forum page your blue background is cut off halfway down by the white background. I suspect this is in the css or perhaps an overlapping or incorrect table tag in the index template. I see this on Firefox. Great site otherwise!

I run Joomla 1.0.7 and SMF 1.1RC2 with this bridge as standalone.

Even though there is no option in the new bridge for standalone it is still possible by hardcoding the registration/forgot password url's to bridge registration/forgot password links. Also have to change the login module so that the links like new posts/pm's there go to forum direct and not through bridge.

Works very well

My PJIRC Integrated Chat Mod (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=45237.0) incorporates a powerful forum system with one of the best IRC applets on the web.  The mod combines the best of both worlds, SMF and PJIRC, which combine to make a fully integrated and extremely user-friendly mod that anyone can use.

When I first released version 1.0 of the mod, I had no idea that thousands of people would download and use my mod on their SMF forums.  Because of this, I have created a website dedicated to the mod (http://pjirc.dtmdotexe.com/).  Users have the option to surf and read the contents of the website, powered by Joomla, and also ask questions and post on the forum (http://pjirc.dtmdotexe.com/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=26).

I've been working on this website for well over a week now and would appreciate anybody's comments or questions.

Yes, some users cant' login to joomla (but SMF is working all OK). From all my users, i think it's about 1% having this problem. And, not, this is not a "cookies" problem.
By the way, this is a "Case-sensitive" problem. My users need to write correctly its username. HELLO is different to Hello or HeLLo, etc.  This isn't really a problem, it's just a "users education" issue. :)

Thank you very much Orstio!
I was wondering why the forum was not accessible in Internet Explorer. I had use Firefox to access the forum. It used to flicker and repeatedly reload in IE... Now it it works like charm.

As per the original instructions for installation, there was no need to modify Joomla! templates at all. However, as I modded the template to get dynamic titles, I guess I has to put this line at the end :)

I appreciate your feedback  8)

we've just started using smf again  :D We had to use joomlaboard for a bit but thankfully the new bridge is better integrated with community builder and it sounds like that might get better in the future so good news because smf is miles better for our forum!

Our sites www.yomotraining.com (http://www.yomotraining.com) Log in as username: test and password: tester

Not yet upgraded to joomla 1.09 as we're waiting for the JACLplus access component to update. SMF RC2 and a modified SAF theme which I was onlg going to use temporarily but it seems to fit in pretty well so will probably stick with it.

Theres an issue with some of the scripts not working (quote doesn't work) which I think might be a conflict with another script in Joomla but don't have the knowledge to find  :( Otherwise everything seems to be working well. Other things on the site are coppermine gallery and a whole load of joomla add ins. We're also using Thyme which is a commercial calendar that can be integrated into joomla and syncs well with ical.

oops I forgot we don't use coppermine anymore! Its menalto gallery

masyomo,

You have made the right choices there!
Joomla - SMF with Orstio's bridge - Gallery2 (with a bridge perhaps?)

Way to go...

hi & thanks, really like your site too

the bridge we're using for Gallery is from http://opensource.4theweb.nl/

Its brilliant using smf again, gives us loads of options now. The log ins a bit of complication - users log in with smf but once loggede in they see the cb log in (we ll actually half cb & half smf) so that they see their community builder avatar + also can still see connection requests and we can use the CB private message system (UDDEIM) - smf private messages have been diasabled & commented out.

Its a bit messy but works ok and will do until inegrations get tighter in the future hopefully (or I learn some coding myself eventually!)

Just buttoned things up tonight.

Mambo, SMF, Coppermine, Integrated Chat, PHPAds

Would like to be able to have sendmail shoot people emails to the "Wrapped URL" of the forums instead of the stand-alone. I'll be looking into that.

Otherwise, things seem to be rolling pretty smoothly at this point.

*EDIT- Found the fix for the email links being wrong. (See below for code to fix the wrong unwrapped links) [google plug] :) Thanks to Orstio, Kindred, and the others who have dedicated so much time to making these components work together.

INSERT INTO smf_settings
   (variable, value)
VALUES ('disableQuotedPrintable', '1');

SMF 1.1.2 - Converted from Joomlaboard 1.1.5
Joomla 1.0.12
Orstio's SMF Joomla Bridge 1.1.7
SMF theme- smfONE (heavily modified)

Here's the forum:  http://themebot.com/forums

Spent the past two days converting Joomlaboard to SMF and customizing the SMF theme I chose so it would integrate well with my Joomla site.  I originally tried to use SMF but the bridge caused the Gallery2 bridge to stop working.  Here's some details of how I got things working.  If you have any questions, please contact me on my new forum :)

Joomlaboard conversion:

Downloaded the Simpleboard convertor here:
http://www.simplemachines.org/download/?converters

Replaced the sql file in the convertor with the one found here:
http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=145652

Everything is converted properly except for the avatars.  Also, some of the character's are escaped strangely  during the conversion and will appear wrong in the posts.  Minor stuff.

Gallery2 Hack:

Applied the simple one line hack here:
http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=83665.msg577929#msg577929

Things not working:

Inline modify doesn't work.  Also, upshrink header area only works for guests, but resets with logged in users.

Board Viewers mod for SMF
googlebot mod for SMF
