I want to add a link in the footer with valid XHTML 1.0 Transitional!
with small text <span class="smalltext">
default theme index.template.php
I cant not seem to get it to validate can anyone help me on this ?

How exactly are you doing this? Can you show us the entire template with the code?

Are you trying to add your own copyright? You could just use my Custom Copyright (http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=1317) mod to do that.
