Hey, I Just installed SMF on my host and am learning a bunch about it. I tried out your theme, it's nice. I was just wondering if it's possible to change where it says "BLACK BOX" in the upper left corner? If so, could you point me to how? Thanks!

Thank you for this great SMF theme.

I am making some small color modification but I don't know how to do it properly. I would like to have all child boards links on the front page of the forum in red color. I modified your CSS document with my basic knowledge but there I was able to change all the links in red color. :P

I need the child boards links to be changed. Can you help me.

Thanks for help.

Thanks Crip!

I have been trying black themes forever and haven't found any that I like, until now!

I hope you do't mind a few minor modifications that I made to the layout. I  added comments to the css file and a smal notice at the footer.  I have also passed on the credits to you on my blog at http://xxxwindsor.blogspot.com/2008/08/fanzone-redesign.html#links

If you get a chance check it out at http://fanzone.xxxwindsor.com and let me know what you think. Be advised that my forum is for an adult audience but is designed for legal adult entertainment establishments and service providers in my home town of Windsor Ontario and not a porn hub.

Thanks again for the great theme and keep 'em coming!

Great Theme, Crip!  Just 2 questions.  Where in the style.css would I go to change the color and size of the text in the posts?  And is there a way to get rid of the scroll bars in the quotes?

Thanks again for an amazing theme.

Sometimes, F5 doesn't work for me. Try Ctrl + F5, as well.

Also, the link to the demo is incorrect. The number should be 32, not 643. :)

[edit]

Another thing that I have been noticing is that many posts are given a scroll bar, while the post is not too long. Is there any way I can get rid of the scroll bars? The same goes for the avatars. Is there any way to increase the size of the space where avatars show up in threads?

It seems to be that the only posts that get a scroll bar are the ones that have quotes in them.
Same here.  There is also a problem with the 2.0 enhanced quick reply working with this theme.  The quick reply box is moved all the way to the right, off the normal screen.  It has been tested with over 10 browsers.

Dude I really love this theme and would like to use it, but I end up getting a massive amount of errors in the Forum Error Log. Like all I have to do is navigate around the forum a little bit, and before you know it, there's already like 50 pages of errors, yikes!

Here are just some of the errors I'm posting:

8: Undefined index: menu_buttons
File: /home/blahblah/public_html/forum/Themes/default/Themes.template.php (body_above sub template - eval?)
Line: 327

8: Undefined index: show_pm_popup

Line: 327

8: Undefined index: rss
File: /home/blahblah/public_html/forum/Themes/default/Themes.template.php (html_above sub template - eval?)

Plus, I was missing all the main navigation buttons. I'm running version 1.1.11 if that helps.
What could be causing this? Please help. I really wanna use this theme cuz it rocks!

QuoteSo, I have recently installed SMF 1.1.11 on my website. I found certain problems.

I cannot find a way to change the forum width. I have looked over tutorials here at SMF but they refer to Core versions such as Babylon or Classic, and I am using BlackBox, from Crip.

One of the reasons why I want to modify the width is the avatars. Even thought I have enabled auto-resize, the forums are not wide enough. The avatar has a scrollbar underneath it, to see it all, and it does not look good. What´s even worse, when the TinyPortal sidebar in enabled, the Avatar get even more squeezed, along with the general forum.

Signatures, I have looked through and through and cannot find a way to make them appear.

As a little note, how can I add more buttons to my navigation bar? You see, when I make all due modifications, I get 2 Home buttons that do the same. I have tried through and through with the tutorials and no look just yet. What I would like to do is create 2 extra buttons. One that directs the user to TinyPortal, one that directs to the forum Index and one that directs to my main webpage. Home, Portal, Forum, Profile, Messages, LogOut...etc
Can this be done in any way?

Any help would be much appreciated, Thanks already. And I apologize for the many questions.

I posted this in the support forum, and was told that it would be proper to bring the issues over here, since they might be theme specific. If you could help out Crip, I would much appreciate it, and I apologize for the big number of questions.  :)

I am sort of a newbie to doing much other than css edits for colors and that sort of thing. I am trying to do a little customization to the BlackBox theme for SMF 1.1.11. I am trying to resize the logo image that is changeable from the current theme settings page in admin. I can't find the place to resize the output. The forum this is going to be used for puts a picture there pretty much on a weekly basis. I would also like to add the logo file, but I can't manage to find the right place to put that code in the index_template.php.

I would like for the resized logo box to be 150x110.

The new banner i would like to add should be centered and be 546x 242. it will reside in the theme images folder
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. I have spent several nights nearly pulling my hair out trying to get this right but I can't seem to.

This is the best theme I ever saw and fell in love as soon as I saw it first time. I have my website up for about a year. I am not a pro and a very busy person in different profession so don't have much time to mess around with it. I am trying to put skyscraper on both side in my forum but it does not shows. What do I need to modify for my ads to show on every page in this theme.

No.

I just upgraded to RC3 and the theme is all messed up. I had done really fews modifications (almost none on the structure, mostly colors change, and rounded corners) so I'm pretty sure that even a 100% new version of this theme will have the same results has I have right now.

Changing this in the CSS worked and fixed it... it was too low and behind the picture. Hope it helps, thanks again!
#news {
   clear: both;
   position: absolute;
   top: 9em;
   left: 14.5em;
   width: auto;

What i want to do is move over the banner from the right edge to the middle of the header in the template.
Here is a pic showing what i want to do.

Thanks for any help.

Hello, I'm having  two problems with this theme using SMF 1.1.11 and SimplePortal 2.3.2.

Every time I select "Forum" the menu toolbar stays in the "Home" button.

Like this:

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u222/Chackankun/1-7.jpg

And when I select Forum:

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u222/Chackankun/2-8.jpg

Also, I can't center the Logo in the top banner because if I center it for 1366x768, it's not centered in other resolutions. What is the CSS code to center it, no matter what resolution a person uses?

I'm having the exact problems in the Actualism theme. Just posted the same thing there so one should give me both answers I hope :|

Ah, yes yes! Ignore the pictures, I took screenshots of the Actualism theme only because it's the same problem and the tabs look alike each other!

Actually in BlackBox the Home remains selected instead of the Forum button!

BB 1.1.11 This must be correct , same as-well in Actualism theme ..

Index.template.php / add in current_action ::

if (in_array($context['current_action'], array('search', 'admin', 'calendar', 'profile', 'mlist', 'register', 'login', 'help', 'pm', 'forum')))

Just below that in Index.template.php add ::

// Show the [home] button.
echo '<li', $current_action == 'home' ? '
class="active"' : '', '><a href="', $scripturl, '"><b>' , $txt[103] , '</b></a></li>';

// Show the [forum] button.
echo '<li', $current_action == 'forum' ? '
class="active"' : '', '><a href="', $scripturl, '?action="forum"><b>Forum</b></a></li>';

With that code the Forum button stops working, it just redirects to the main page but without the side blocks.

Edit: In the Actualism theme I fixed it by changing from: class="active"' to class="current"' .

But in the blackbox theme it's already class="current"' .

I am running black box in version 1.1.11. When I installed the theme I noticed I could no longer update the forum logo picture in the header from the admin pane> themes and settings> logo image url . Is there a way to make this feature work again? It is not troublesome to go in to ftp and upload the new logo, but I would like to get this feature working again.

Hi.  Great theme.  You make some of the best.  I find that when I install custom themes, they tend to wind up being yours.

I'm having a problem with this theme.  Running 2.0 RC4 with the appropriate version of Blackbox.  When I'm logged in, the search box disappears.  When I'm viewing the forum as a guest, the search box is visible.  This does not happen with the Curve theme.  Any ideas?  I'd prefer is that the search box be gone permanently, accessible only through the menu.

Hope this hasn't been covered already in this thread.  I couldn't find any mention of similar issues.

i wanted to let you know i fixed this problem.

it was in my theme's index.css.

#logo a {
position: absolute;
top: 1em;
right: 2em;
display: block;
width: 390px;
height: 80px;
cursor: pointer;
background: url(../images/img/logo.png) no-repeat;

the height was set at 200, and so it was causing the search box to be obscured.  i think the reason it depended upon being logged in or not was because of the user area/avatar that show up when you log in.  the width was also set to something like 500, and i'm sure that didn't help matters.

since this is solved, i'm no longer interested in removing the search box.  however, i would still like to know where to change the overall default post text color.  thx.

We're not worthy!

But seriously - I managed to remove the 'blackbox' logo on the header, but I dont want to replace it with a new one - I wanted a text title  instead. Any help on where to input the text and any other code involved would be much appreciated!

Thanks for a great theme! I love it and so do the members of my board! :D

I had a small issue with the New button that shows when a new message has been posted in a thread. The image didn't work, so the alt text showed instead and it was the exact same colour as the thread title. I (the coding n00b) managed to solve it by adding this

img {color:#00b300;}

to the top of the css document. Now the alt text shows in green, which is perfect. Unfortunately this doesn't work for Chrome (something with Chrome not using the alt text?) but I'll find a solution eventually. :P
This is probably old news to all of you, but I thought it may help someone, so I posted anyways. :)

Hey, one short question. I have a problem with a too big helptopics.gif icon in my admin panel while using the blackbox theme (and with the actualism theme too) on my smf 2.0 final forum with portamx 1.4. With the curve and core themes, the icon is small.

Any hints how i can fix this? Thanks in advance for a reply.

Hi Crip,

i've tested some stuff and found this line in the index.css of the actualism and blackbox themes:

.new_win{width: 400px; height: 400px;}

If i remove this line, the help icon is in normal size but i don't know if this line is very important.

I will check that Thanks!

I found only this on Default , so it should be in [all] 2.0 Themes..

/* Styles for print media.
------------------------------------------------------- */
@media print
{
   #headerarea
   {
      display: none;
   }

   .tborder
   {
      border: none;
   }
}

This bit wasn't present..

.new_win{width: 400px; height: 400px;}

Hello, this is a great theme! Thank you for your work on it. I did have a question, it seems the body of page is fixed to about 960px, is there any way to adjust this to accommodate the actual width of the browser window?

Thanks again!

Great theme Crip!

Now I wanted to remove the  "Search" from the header.  The solution provided for the Default theme (the only only one i found trough searching) isnt working in Blackbox.

Any help would be great..

Hello!

I need some assistance with the theme, I PM'd you but you didn't respond so I'm replying here in hope you will respond.
I have used }

p {
    color: red !important;
}

a {
    color: red !important;
}
to overwrite all the current theme colors to red but while it worked, the colors of the user names have been changed as well, everywhere.A few examples here:  i.imgur.com/x5jalvq.png and i.imgur.com/GATd0id.png The color of the names will stay red no matter if I put another color from membergroups edit.So what I'm asking for is could you please identify the code lines that give colors to the usernames?I'd like only that Administrators to be red and I'd also like to give different colors to each group.Thank you!

I want to make all text on the theme red (like here, portal- i.imgur.com/H413A34.png  , forum- i.imgur.com/DkLrT90.png  , inside topic-  i.imgur.com/TSTL0Zz.png ,  ) but inside topics I want each membergroup to have its own color like in who's online list (or here, another example: i.imgur.com/osKXMik.png) but while all text is red I want that membergroups in who's online list, inside topics and pretty much everywhere to have their own assigned color.Is it possible?

sneaky,
i think all that stuff is up to you to do!..you know what you want so do it...

this matter has nothing to do with Theme Errors or theme performance.
