HAd problems with forum not sending emails, half the time. It would usually send an acc. activation email, but no PM messages emails, or forum subscription emails. I tried both PHP mail and SMTP. Just upgraded to 1.1.5 version, created new account, and no activation email is sent, plus this error in the SMF log:
Ran into problems sending Mail. Error: 550 No Such User Here
even though the new user is there and able to login.
Running out of options here.
Checked for this newly created user under Awaiting activation, then resent activation email, still not receiving it.
Checked the log, same error Ran into problems sending Mail. Error: 550 No Such User Here.
Could this be due to some kind of server time offset? Where is this setting under SMF admin?
I also have a problem with report to moderator, the message a;ways comes up: no moderators found even though the forum has moderators. No error appears in the log for this one.
Do you see any pattern in terms of the email provider? Some email providers seem to be blocking out certain emails sent. See if this is the case.
No, I did not notice any patterns in email.
Today, after sending a new announcement I noticed this:
1. At the screen where it show to which group to send it to, It strangely says
Regular Members (n/a) (even though we have 650)
Administrators (1)
Moderators (2)
2. I received only one news announcement sent to admin email
3. Error log shows after news announcement:
Ran into problems sending Mail. Error: 550 Administrative prohibition
I have been scratching my head for a ling time about all these problems, please help if you can. I am on 1.1.5 version
Quote550 Administrative prohibition
your host is blocking these mails.. maybe it helps switching SMFs email-system from php to smtp.
It is SMT, and I tried both. I will email the host again.
Make sure the webmaster e-mail is the same as the e-mail account username you are using in your SMTP settings. But yes contact your host, as some have unique methods of accessing their mail servers.
Try Gmail as a test to see if it's your current SMTP settings, there are instruction on how to use Gmail if you search this forum.
