Link to Mod (http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=1370)
This mod will make your logo clickable. It is based for the default theme, so please make sure to edit custom theme file index.template.php for custom theme effects.
It is well known that to have a clickable logo, is good for your members, so they have an extra way to get back to the main page of your website.
I want to say thanks to Babjusi, his wrapper mod got me thinking on the clickable logo.. ;)
Neat SmokeyBlue :)
I have seen very requests at these forums here for such a thing and I am sure that a lot of people would find this mod handy. Especially those that are not comfortable with editing the files
thanks Babjusi.. ;)
Hi Smoky Blue..
:)
How does it work?
Is there something new in the menu system?
Or does it just make the current spot where the image url is entered, able to take an {<a href=" ...etc}?
thanks
ddarrell
OK, I just figured it out. It is making the 'smf' logo clickable to the home of the forum...
Pretty Neat....
One day when you are bored, maybe you can make the image link that is an option in Current Theme settings, (That displays a Logo on the top left of the forum), be clickable to another website.. :D :D :D
(I could use that functionality)
Thanks
ddarrell
hi ddarrell..
if you need it for another website, or another area of your site, when you do the edits (apply mod)
then just look at this spot here:
<a href="', $scripturl, '"><img src="', $settings['images_url'], '/smflogo.gif" style="margin: 2px;" alt="" /></a>
this bit:
a href="place your url here', will help you do what you wish.
remember, this only works for the default. you must edit the custom theme as well ;)
glad you can use it!! :)
OK, Thanks!!!
:)
you welcome ;)
Handy add-on
Thanks.
just a question.... i know its silly to ask but just for a clarification... if the logo is already clickable and I install the mod then would there be a conflict or it will overright it ? or when i uninstall it, would it remove the code from the file and make the original logo unclickable ?
this applies to the default theme for smf. that logo isnt clickable.
if you wish to add it to other themes, you must do so manually.
if your logo is clickable already, then why would you need the mod?
this does install and uninstall very well, so it is up to you if you wish to use this ;)

I told it was a silly question.. :P
lol that you did ;)
I tried to download the mod just now and it said there was an error - something failed when it tested the file, just FYI.
Smoky, I'd like to welcome you to the informal mod author's team. I thought of this idea myself and have even written the mod, even ready to upload, and installed on my own forum, but I'm glad I didn't because you have now issued your first mod package, and it's good to have another author on the team!
Good showing Smoky! You go! Welcome to the team! :)
lol thanks!! this is nice!!
i have a few more i would like to see up, and just glad to help out where i can ;)

can you tell me what failed?
what version of smf do you have and what other mods?
What folder do you put the mod in? Sorry I am just getting the hang of this! Great forum! :D
Got it, you put it in the packages folder! Sweet!
glad you got it stingerman!! :)
Im having trouble editing my dilbermc file correctly, can you plz do it for me?
Its attached
you will have to find the center image you have, on the index.template.php file you attached, and use the code here, being sure to subsitute your image name for the default smflogo image..
<a href="', $scripturl, '"><img src="', $settings['images_url'], '/smflogo.gif" style="margin: 2px;" alt="" /></a>
i am sorry for the delay in response to this blondeamon..
Smoky lady has been a bit busy.. :)
how do i make my own image clickable? there isnt any option to edit the xml files under the package manager. when u try manually edit the file and install the mod again ill get this error message: The package you tried to upload either is not a valid package or has become corrupted.
i want to have the logo on the RIGHT side of the forum ( http://dailymobile.se/forum/ )
is that possible to make with this mod?

how do you make your own image clickable?? apply the mod.. you shouldnt have to edit anything in the mod files..
you are wanting to have your image aligned to the right? then post up the code and we go from there ;)
all this mod of mine does, is make it clickable :)
what kind of file do u want to make the logo to the left?
what do you mean? :o
i thought you said you wanted your logo on the right?
all this mod does is make it clickable, no aligning at all. :)

no i want the logo on the left, were i have my custom logo. ( http://dailymobile.se/forum/ ) the current SMF logo is still on the right BUT its been switched to a 1x1 logo (so that people wont see it)
you wrote: you are wanting to have your image aligned to the right? then post up the code and we go from there .
the code? what kind of code? in witch file =)
ok.. you added your logo thru the current theme options, correct?here is the code for your header/logo based off the default:
Quote<body>';
echo '
<div class="tborder" ', $context['browser']['needs_size_fix'] && !$context['browser']['is_ie6'] ? ' style="width: 100%;"' : '', '>
<table width="100%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" border="0">
<tr>
<td class="catbg" height="32">';
if (empty($settings['header_logo_url']))
echo '
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 140%; ">', $context['forum_name'], '</span>';
else
echo '
<img src="', $settings['header_logo_url'], '" style="margin: 4px;" alt="', $context['forum_name'], '" />';
echo '
</td>
<td align="right" class="catbg">
<img src="', $settings['images_url'], '/smflogo.gif" style="margin: 2px;" alt="" />
</td>
</tr>
</table>';
found in the index.template.php file in themes>default (core)
what i suggest to you is this.. take your logo, and name it to smflogo.gif (from dm-banner-size-test-3.png) to make things easier on you.
next, upload that image to your images file in the default theme, overwritting the one that is there now.
then look at the code i just poped up here.
change this bit here:
<td align="right" class="catbg">
to where it will say "left" and you will be fine..
however i never like to modify the default theme.. always make a new theme and edit that one..
remember, backup!! before and after any changes ;)
now if you do not wish for the text name of your site to show, then do the code bit like this:
<body>';
echo '
<div class="tborder" ', $context['browser']['needs_size_fix'] && !$context['browser']['is_ie6'] ? ' style="width: 100%;"' : '', '>
<table width="100%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" border="0">
<tr>
<td class="catbg" height="32">';
//if (empty($settings['header_logo_url']))
//echo '
//<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 140%; ">', $context['forum_name'], '</span>';
//else
//echo '
//<img src="', $settings['header_logo_url'], '" style="margin: 4px;" alt="', $context['forum_name'], '" />';
echo '
</td>
<td align="right" class="catbg">
<img src="', $settings['images_url'], '/smflogo.gif" style="margin: 2px;" alt="" />
</td>
</tr>
</table>';

if i could see what you are talking about Flammer..
here is what i see using firefox and ie.. (see attached)
now, can you do a screener of what you see?? or have you looked at it in browsershots.org??
can you post up the code that you are using??
and you always install mods to the core default, then to the custom theme via editing..
so does this do that on the default?? the more info you give, lol you know the drill ;)
Oh, why didnt i check before giving the account. I just saw that the user account doesnt see as i as an admin sees it.
Here are the screenies.
(https://www.simplemachines.org/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg266.imageshack.us%2Fimg266%2F8388%2Fheaderoy3.png&hash=0b1af76f50fa140ea4f53801d7255746ddebf878)
During the normal mode without logging in, i see the same which you do, but as i login, i see the above screenie...
It doesnt happen in the default theme. Yes all the mods are installed for the default theme first and then custom.

In error log, i have nothing except the error created due to the post/topic update in the shoutbox.
post up your code for the custom theme header please..
and not sure, i really do not think this mod
Reflection Avatar
would effect it.. the rest of the mods do nothing with images so it must be in the code itself..
here are somewhat the nearby codes from there the custom theme header part:-

else
{
echo '
', $txt['welcome_guest'], '

Also, here is the advert part used in custom header and footer..

try removing Global Headers Footers ;)
let me know if it is better or no change..
Nope, nothing..
Although i just noticed, that the logo which overlaps at the base is clickable while the one on the top is not.
Just with lots of keen interest, why is it just the admin and not the users ? pretty weird..
im not sure Flammer, if you want to pop up the complete index.template. php file.. up to you..
i cant touch it till later tonight, in the middle of a clients site right now, but i can take a closer look later..
or create a admin acct and pm it to me for testing.. either way.. will get it solved..
i'd like to know so i know my mod is in the clear.. ;)
Yep sure, i'll try a few things up and later tonight send you the details. Best of luck with the clients. ;) Have a nice sleep in advance.. :P
lmao Flammer, you know the wicked never rest :P
Totally, i have passed through that stage..
the only difference was that my clients where Chemistry, Physics, Maths and IT for the whole week..!!! :P
/me figures out should she hide or?? :P
lol Flammer.. i hope you did more than just pass thru ;)
Well that was just Mocks though, came out with B's so far, Jan is gonna kill me soon..!
/me gonna keep eyes wide open from 5th Jan to 15th! 10 days of Torture to myself!!
Just an update on this, it does show up properly when the clean index.template.php is added in.
So the problem is somewhere there.
id definatley say that lol.. will check it out when i can O:)
thanks Flammer.. ;)
Here is my template file... using swirly theme... what do I have to edit here??
if you go to where you downloaded my mod, there is a "parser", right under the download area, that will show you the edits to make.
http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=1370 ;)
But my swirly theme dont have this command:
<img src="', $settings['images_url'], '/smflogo.gif" style="margin: 2px;" alt="" />
right click on your logo and find the name of it, then trace it in your index.template.php file..
since i have no link to your site i dont know what it is looking like..
but this is a simple mod.. again, just find the name of your logo.. :)
My logo comes from direct URL... please could you do it for me? im pretty confused right now..
my board: http://www.faithy.net/forum/index.php
template file:
this will not work unless you add your logo to the theme, using ftp to the theme>images folder..
next, take my code and replace the one you have with its name. (the image path)
it will work that way. ;)
no outside url for logo..
Babjusi left me in charge of his mods, so if anyone has an issue, please see my site where I can give better support.
Thanks! ;)
http://smf.houseofsmoky.com
edit this??
<img src="', $settings['images_url'], '/smflogo.gif" style="margin: 2px;" alt="" />
the code looks right.. but what smf version are you using? :)
1.1.8
but not fuond the clicacble logo
what theme are you using and can you attach your theme's index.template.php file? :)

if you need it for another website, or another area of your site, when you do the edits (apply mod)
then just look at this spot here:
<a href="', $scripturl, '"><img src="', $settings['images_url'], '/smflogo.gif" style="margin: 2px;" alt="" /></a>

a href="place your url here', will help you do what you wish.

glad you can use it!! :)
Sorry but I am a bit lost as to where I go to make an edit. I don't see any option to make a script edit anywhere. Sorry for being a dumb-ass! I am obviously missing something.

You must download the file in question to your pc via ftp and open it up with a php text editor. Alternatively you can apply the edits from the File Manager section in the CP of your host as well. Also make a backup of the file before you edit it, just in case.
Will this be available for 2.0???
anyone???
Have you tried finding
<img class="floatright" id="smflogo" src="' , $settings['images_url'] , '/smflogo.gif" alt="Simple Machines Forum" />
and replacing it with this?
<a href="', $scripturl, '"><img class="floatright" id="smflogo" src="' , $settings['images_url'] , '/smflogo.gif" alt="Simple Machines Forum" /></a>
It should work but, if it doesn't, you can just find what you changed:
<a href="', $scripturl, '"><img class="floatright" id="smflogo" src="' , $settings['images_url'] , '/smflogo.gif" alt="Simple Machines Forum" /></a>
and replace it back with the original
<img class="floatright" id="smflogo" src="' , $settings['images_url'] , '/smflogo.gif" alt="Simple Machines Forum" />
and it's back the way it was. :)

Could you please give me the changes I need to make to that line to have britcoms.com (external site) open in another window??
I just installed my site on a new webhost, and the clickable logo is not working correctly. http://www.thefrugalfind.com/forums/
if you go there, you'll notice TWO header images - one in the normal spot that is not clickable, and to the right one that is clickable, but not exactly in the right spot. Can someone tell me how to fix that?
Thanks!

Apparently there were 2 instances in the index template file. I just deleted the one that didn't have a link in the html and it's working now.
I am choking on this MOD as I edited mine previously to take my custom logo. Here is what I have and I need it clickable to my /index.*

echo '
<span style="font-family: Georgia, sans-serif; font-size: xx-large;">', $context['forum_name'], '</span>';
